Default Noise

I have a new Rave Ballitic 700 I built. I was flying it to day and I used some older packs. I could here this noise I thought was a beep, beep, beep, noise. I landed and was looking at the Kontonik Jive 120 HV ESC for a light for a error code. I could not see a light flashing and when I hit throttle hold the noise immediately went away. Then after a few more test flights I think it is a squeak ? Something from the drive train ? It's hard to hear over the blade noise but the noise seams like a beep, beep, beep or a squeek, squeek, squeek, noise. It is not at fast intervals and I think it is from the drive train some where. Any ideas where to start. I saw on another site a guy that built a Ballistic. He had some play (very small) in the lower bearing from the shaft turning inside the bearing. I thought could the main shaft turn inside the bearing slower than the speed of the blades and create this sound ?

Has anyone else had a similar issue ? Has anyone else had to put green locktight inside the bearing race to stop any play of the main shaft ?

I guess I will remove the blades spin it up and see if I can hear anything. Then maybe remove the main shaft and check the main shaft bearings and main shaft.

Might want to also look at the auto unit.

What should I look for ? On the one way. Signs of it slipping on the shaft?
Replace the one way ?

I have the one way housing with the set screw to hold the sleeve in place.

The outer sleeve is likely ok with the set screw. You might want to check the inner sleeve (AU1003) for signs of excessive wear.

There wasn't much of anything on the one way. The bearings look good. If the main shaft is turning inside the lower bearing there isn't any wear on the shaft.

There is a brown mark on the shaft but it would be inside the inside sleeve bolted together. So they would not move. I am not sure what that mark is from - heat ?

The auto unit looks good. Just oil it a little.

Thank you ! I think the same. Oil it and put it back together. What do you use for oil ? Tri-flow ? Transmition fluid ?

It looked like the oil that was in there. (Can't remember what I put in when I assembled it - most likely tri-flow) had moved up and behind the inner sleeve against the main shaft. If that makes any sence ? When I took it apart there was oil on the main shaft inside the lower sleeve ? Maybe from something else.

Tri-flow is fine. There should be some in it already so just a little is needed.

If it was dry could that be what was causing the noise? Didn't really look like it was slipping.

Should not be it. It works even if dry.

That's not good. I was hoping that was it.

All the bearings looked good ? Didn't look like the main shaft is turning inside the lower bearing. No wear on the main shaft.

Although they are not likely what causes the noise, check the tail shaft bearings and see if they are secure on the carbon plates. Anything that is mechanical including the servos, especially the tail servo which moves quite a bit without any input.

I will check. I have it back together and will test it again.

It seemed pretty loud. I thought it was a beep, beep, beep noise from a error code in the ESC at first but there were no lights flashing on the ESC.

Then I thought it must be from something mechanical in the drive train. Anyway I will test it again and see.

I flew it yesterday at it flies great. Still hear the "noise" and I am not sure what it is. I am going to continue flying it. I will keep looking ?

It's a brand new Next D 4525-520 Motor. I tried to put a few drops of oil in the bearings with the Scorpion oiler but it didn't seem to change the noise. Next time I am out I will video it.

I took the main shift out and checked it seemed OK but maybe I should just change it and try it again.
