Default How to fix a swash plate that has seperated

One of the most common causes of sudden control loss on co-axials is the separation of the top and bottom pieces of the swash plate.

This frequently occurs during a crash and can often be overlooked while examing the heli for crash damage.

Although the pictures here are not of an Esky swash, the procedure to fix the Esky is the same.

This is how the swash should look. Both upper and lower pieces tightly together. On an Esky swash you should not see any separation at all.

This is how the swash looks when the upper and lower pieces of the swash have separated.

Carefully clean all the oil and grease off the surface of the shaft on the upper piece of the swash and off the inner face of the bearing on the bottom piece of the swash.

I like to use Windex to clean parts as it easily removes oil and grease and doesn't leave any residue on the piece.

Carefully apply CA glue to the inner surface face of the bearing in the bottom piece of the swash. It is very important not to get the glue anywhere else on the swash.

I like to use a toothpick to apply the glue as it helps me avoid getting the glue in the wrong place.

With the glue applied to the inner face of the bottom piece of the swash, slide the shaft of the upper piece of the swash into the bearing in the lower piece of the swash and press the pieces together tightly.

Be sure that none of the glue squeezes out and gets into the bearing.
When the glue has set, check to see that the upper piece of the swash rotates freely.

I've never had a swash separate again once I've glued it together.

I'm afraid I bought a couple of new swashes before I realized what was happening.
