OK chaps, I need a bit of help with gears and pinions. I've noticed that some of you appear to be running 1.0 mod gears in your conversions. Could someone please tell me where you get the main gear and pinions from? I found some 1.0 mod pinions on the Tower Hobbies website, but they are only 5mm bore - I need 6mm. Any help much appreciated.

Looks interesting. Very much like the Heli-Chris.de conversion (elevator servo moved back and moved outside the frames) but the shorter battery tunnel isn't going to fit two big Zippy or Outrage 5000mAh packs.

The M1.0 maingear comes from MicroHeli. I noticed that GrandRC is now selling them without the nitro pinion. I'm using a 11T M1.0 6mm steel pinion from Century. Both Heli-World.com and RREModels.com carries them but the last time I looked, they were both out of stock.

Thanks in forward, Sören

Here is something i pieced together. Used a aftermarket "Stock" frame just to test the idea. My goal was to get all the weight as close to the tail boom as possible..

Thanks for that - seems they're hard to get in the US as well as the UK. Guess I'll keep looking.

Humm, I looked through all the pinions at HeliDirect. I only found 3 for 6mm shafts and they were all 0.7M; not 1.0M. Please let us know if I missed a product. Thanks!

Thanks to VijayV for this link in Australia for the Scorpion 11T 6mm pinions. They also have the 10 and the 12T.

Humm. 10T pinion 11.9 :1 ratio. That was the "Holy Grail" i was looking for when i did the E Stratus..The biggest main gear M/A had was 100T (at the time) . A Actro 32-3 on 12s was a bit too much at 10:1. I can put the X Era in it with a 10T M/A pinion and should be golden...

Yep. And the 11T is perfect for the lower rpm/V motors, i.e. Scorpion 4035/500 and Pyro 30-12.

Based on my data logs, HV85 should be fine. Running 12S with the Scorpion 4035 or Pyro 30-12, the average current is around 35A with spikes up to 70-80A. See data logs here: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=140870
