Default Pitch curves.

Does anybody use non-linear pitch curves? Collective is WAY sensitive on my DX8. I just need it to not respond to micron sized movements around mid stick, everything else is fine.

Or just reduce your overall pitch range a little.

Or drop your headspeed and enjoy a little more flight time and less sensitive controls or many of the above.

I like everything else super sensitive, just not collective (at least, at center stick). I'm not sure how to add expo on pitch, since it's not in the expo menu of the transmitter, not is it in the beastx manual

You can change the curve manually to be like expo...

+1

Then enable expo in the pitch curve menu to smooth the interpolation of the curve between the points.

Ikon/Brain has expo for pitch under the advanced setup menus too.

EDIT: oops saw ikon/brain in your signature, didn't realize this machine was beastx. Gotta do it in Tx like others have said.

Try 0-30-50-70-100 and enable expo in DX8 pitch curve menu. If its not enough you could try 0-35-50-65-100 and so on. Enabling the expo will automatically smooth out the curve.

So I played around with this and got the heli feeling pretty nice.

Then I decided to try out beastx 'pitch boost' and set it to high. Bad idea. Slammed the sucker into the ground and broke the skids and TT gears. Fortunately it looks like everything is fine though. No more pitch boost for me :]

Linear pitch curves, i.e.
-100, -50, 0, 50, 100
or
0, 25, 50, 75, 100
depending on radio, I believe is what most use.

If you don't have exp on pitch and want it "softer" around
mid stick you can change to e.g.:
-100, -40, 0, 40, 100
or
0, 30, 50, 70, 100

Some (like me) prefere the heli to react fast on pitch around
mid stick, so I often use something like:
-100, -60, 0, 60, 100
or
0, 20, 50, 80, 100

It is all a matter of taste…

Regards,
Bo

I think part of it is the design of the DX8. Take a close look and you'll notice the collective stick has less vertical travel than the cyclic. This is not true for all brands of tx. I have NEVER been happy with the feel of the collective stick on my DX8, and is the primary reason I am looking at other tx.

Wow it's true, I'd never noticed that before!

I sometimes use "S" shaped pitch curves to give an expo effect around mid-stick if it's too sensitive. I do this with my 180 CFX for example.
