Welcome to helifreak. I moved this post to the dedicated King 3 forum where the experts that own a heli like yours can help you.

Good Luck!
Rick

Default Check the tail carefully

Welcome to the forum!

I think this must happen to everyone. The first time I rebuilt my tail, I put the blade links on the wrong way. Check the manual and be sure the tail is moving so the blades come up into the rotor wash towards the front of the heli. Also make sure the control attachment is on the leading edge on the tail blade. You could have your belt twisted the wrong way or the balls attached to the wrong link. Easy mistake.

BTW, the King is a great Heli to start on.

When you did this upgrade did you change the gyro mounting position in any way?

Also if you moved the tail servo mount on the boom it will need to be reset up. My bet is that the blade grips are on wrong or the belt got twisted 1/2 turn.

If you turn your main blades clockwise by hand, the tail rotor blades should be rotating counterclockwise if your looking straight at them from the right side.

The link balls on the tail slider should be on the front side of the tail blades (leading edge control), the opposite of the way the main blades control links are attached.

Here is a photo that might help: http://www.buzzflyer.co.uk/images/be...nc-tail-12.jpg

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Another way to look at it is that when I was younger and I had blades, I had more balls!!!

Default lets get a little more info

When you say all you did was change plastic....exactly what got changed? Just the rotor parts? or the tail also?

Did you remove the maingear or tailshaft while changing anything?

Did you move the tail servo? or the tail boom?

Do you know how to set up the tail and gyro in Rate Mode?

Do the main blades rotate clockwise? Tail blades rotate counterclockwise when viewed from the right side of the heli?

We'll get your problem figured out and the more info you can provide will narrow it down quicker.

Default my experiance

hey trontveit,

while these guys try and help you, i'd figure i'd share my experience.
Today i accidently grinded my tail blades on the driveway. It was enough to make the belt twist. my king 2 kept spinning around to the right. no amount of trim or stick would compensate for it. Once i untwisted the belt, and removed the plastic burrs, it hovered straight.

Just thought i'd share.
may not be your problem, but just something keep in mind for future.

The tail parts dident fit so i used the old parts again.,.
the main rotor spins clockwise so does the tail rotor..
I have tryed the tail rotor both ways but nothing works(mean twisting the belt)
i didenīt move the servo or the tail boom or what you call it..

Doés that change anything?
Getting real tired of this hahahaha...

No - the main rotor rotates clockwise when viewed from above, but the tail rotors must rotate anti-clockwise when viewed from right-hand side of the heli.
Make sure you have the blades on the correct way - as per the photo.
Is your tail servo mounted the same way as the second photo?
If it is, when you power up (disconnect the motor wires or disable the motor in the TX), pick the heli up and turn the nose to the left (anti- clockwise). The servo horn should move towards the front and the tail blades should incline the way they are in the third photo. When you twist the heli to the right, that horn should move backwards.

Chances are one of the following has happened
1) Belt twisted wrongly - tail blades rotating wrong way
2) Tail blades on back to front
3) Gyro reversed so tail blades don't counteract the main rotor force.
4) Tail slider not set correctly relative to the control rod and servo horn.
5) Belt too loose - if you hold the tail blades and turn the main rotor, does the belt jump?

The finer points of setting up in rate or head hold can be discussed later.
First, check these points and then check the geometry of the horns and slider. When the tail servo is at mid point, the horn should be at 90 degrees to the tail slider control rod and the rear end attachment at 90deg also, with the actual bush on the tail shaft just about half way along the shaft. This should give you about zero pitch on the tail blades when you look from above. If this isn't how it is, you need to re-work the physical set up until it is. You WILL be able to get this bird to fly, it's just a case of really understanding what is going on with the control links and that can take some time.
Good luck and let me know what you are seeing. Keith

Default Another thought

If you changed the maingear, be certain that the itty bitty pin is fully inserted into the slot on top of the belt pully that sits on top of the main gear. If that pin is just sitting on top, or missing altogether, the belt wont be able to turn the tail rotor.

Tailshaft is the shaft at the rear of the heli that the belt rotates, The tailrotor is mounted on the end.
Are you sure that the grubscrew that secures the tailrotor to the shaft isnt missing? If the shaft can rotate inside the tailrotor hub, the tailrotor wont turn at top speed.

Its a real headfull to get all this crammed into the brain all at once, but once you go thru this stuff once, its a piece of cake the next time.

HAHA, dude...what was the problem?? You had lotsa help from several kind folks here and i'm sure we all want to know what the problem was?

Now KT.........Sounds like it might be time to discuss the finer points of up setting the tail in Rate Mode for this fellow so he can continue onward and upward.

I'm curious too ! What was it ?

i'd like the discussion on setting up in different modes too. There's plenty of posts about it, but nothing like it in real time

Default THank you all!!

Hey hey again..

First of all i unmounted everything hehe then i followd all of the instructions you guys gave me
and when i tested it it just worked, think there was some slack in the tail and on the main rotor.
To be honest i am not sure.
The only thing that is still not a 100% ok is if i turn the pitch button up it still actīs a little funny with the tail..anyone have any ideas to what that could be?

But the main thing is it is flying again..
So thank you all again.

Thats pretty normal and it might get worse as your batteries begin to weaken toward the end of its charge. Turn your pitch knob down quite low at 1st, run thru a few batteries, and if the tail does not begin to wag, maybe turn it up just a bit, Keep doing this until you reach the point where its just below where the tail begings to wag. When i had my k-3 on the stock radio the pitch knob always had to be set below the halfway point.

Its sounding like you need to learn how to setup your tail if its going lots faster in one direction than the other.
