Default What's the best Canopy/Window Color for visibility???

Hi Guys,

I know you guys have tried lots of colors combinations and I've seen lots of videos , from what I've seen the Uli video with the Black canopy and yellow window is very visible , but will like to hear from your experience ,which colors offers the best visibility??

I see lots of gray windows, how's the visibility with the Gray??

Thanks in advance,

For normal and close-in flight, I don't have a big preference. You really start appreciating visibility when doing “stratospheric stall turns”.
I’ve build a bit of a stack of different TDR canopies and I think Dr Ralph Okon is onto something with the prominent red window canopy.

It's all a bit theoretical really - when you get really far away and going pretty fast, you kinda only see the silhouette of the heli anyway.

Red is a nice contrasting color though so should be a safe bet. My favorite of the "normal" TDR colors is the white canopy with red window and black squiddie

One thing you can do is install the Heli-X flight simulator. When you load the TDR model, you can change all three colors and then fly to get an idea of what's most visible to you. I did this (and took screenshots too) to help get ideas. I haven't picked my final colors yet but I know I won't do black on the window because it disappears too much when nose in. Here are my two favorite combinations so far. Turns out one of them is exactly what Edvard just described.

Nope, you just need to use the latest version of Adobe Reader. Remember to click the photo of the heli to start the app.

Just click the color swatches for the Fenster (window) and Haube (canopy) and you should be green to go.

Here's a screen shot:

One of my favorite canopy and the one I'm going to be getting is the one Scott Yow has on his TDR. It's the red one from insane canopy.

I really like this canopy from Insane canopy. When Scott was flying it the visibility was great.

I had a silver window on a black canopy with a blue comet and my aging eyes had huge trouble with orientation.

I now have a yellow canopy with a red window and a blue comet, it is much better for visibility (but some say it is ugly )

I will have to admit that I don't find the canopy combo the best for looking at, but it is pretty easy to see what is going on.

Yep, I have one sitting here along with all the other goodies ready for my June delivery.
Worth every cent, the paintwork is absolutely perfect... and I'm hard to please.

I see fusuno have one very similar.
