The two I bought in the last year are like that. They also had newer versions of the firmware on them, so they're certainly not old stock.

What you describe should be the newest/current version.

Orange label one has a 1.5A internal BEC/the new, blue labeled one has a 3A BEC.

I'm not certain that is accurate.

I have one with an orange stick but it's 3 amps.

According to Castle here is how to tell.

Can't upload pic since it was uploaded to another thread.

I bought both of my current CC25's in the last 6 months, both had an orange sticker, and both are 3A according to Castle's pictures.

1.5A is not enough for a typical FBL unit... I've done bench tests with a good solid 1.5A swich mode BEC, a 3GX and 3 DS410s and could reliably get it to reset with just cycling the sticks around.

3A you're probably OK but won't have much headroom... personally, I use CC10 BECs on even my 3GX 250s and have never had power/reset/brownout problems.

A CC10 is $20 and about 10g and can run at 6V so you can get an extra 20% speed bonus out of your servos... well worth it IMHO.
