CREATE a new model, then use Phoenix Builder to complete

Does anyone have a clue what 3D software is necessary in order to create a .geo or .obj file of a completely new model, to work with in Phoenix Creator? The YouTube tutorial points to a zip file that contains a .geo file and a .bmp file - the .geo file is a 3D model that one opens in Phoenix Creator, and the .bmp is simply the pretty paint on the outside. Someone, somehow, created that basic model in some 3D app, but I can't find anyone talking about HOW. It's a pity that Sketchup can't create .geo files, because they have a vast library of already created objects, including things like an MI-24 heli, which I would love to do in Phoenix R/C.

The principles, as I understand them, are somewhat simple once you get the model into Phoenix Creator - import the 3D model, then make all the heli elements match the 3D model - i.e. stretch the frame of the Phoenix-Creator pieces to match the 3D model frame, stretch the rotors of the Phoenix-Creator rotor to match the 3D model rotor, and so on. I know there are a lot of variables, but my first, biggest hurdle, is finding a way to create the initial .geo 3D model, and I'm amazed that I can't find anyone talking about it.

In Aerofly, I used to convert models made for Microsoft Flight Simulator to be used in Aerofly. It was a tedious process, including the use of a 3D model program where one had to input numbers in various fields in order to move pieces of the aircraft around to basically assemble the model correctly after one of the conversion steps, etc. In other words, I have indeed done this sort of thing before. Even though I am not a programmer/coder, by any stretch of the imagination.

Since I posted that, I found a site with a bunch of already created .obj 3D heli's (http://tf3dm.com) and brought a few of them into Phoenix Builder - only one of them was oriented correctly - like the front really was the front. When you bring them in, you don't see the colored wire frame over the model like you see in the YouTube video showing how to do a basic heli, but I went thru all the steps as best I could, matching all the settings shown in the video to a heli I tried (a nice looking MI-28N), but Phoenix just crashed when I tried to load the model. I still haven't been able to find any source of any already created .geo 3D heli models online.

Are you still interested in doing this?

I have found a workable solution, and I have been successfully importing files from SketchUp although tit takes a lot of work.

I currently have three flying, although still tuning them.
