e5 stretch
Can I use the current boom in the e5 kit or do I need to order the stretch kit to run 600 class blades? Also would I need the tail gear ratio change.

You will need to order a longer boom to run 600 blades. FBLrotors.com has a kit put together that you can order everything you need in one shot or there are a few posts floating around that list the parts you need. As far as the gearing for the tail rotor, it depends on what head speed you are going to want to run. If you're going to run 2000 rpm, or lower, you'll want the different gearing. I think Ralph also has stretch kits that include the gears for changing that tail drive gear ratio, if you do want to go that route.

If you are using the 96mm tail blades with the E5 or E5 stretch, the optimum tail rpm seems to be between 9,500 to 10,000rpm. So, with the stock 4.0:1 ration, the optimum HS is between 2375rpm and 2500rpm. With the optional 4.5:1 ratio, the optimum HS would be around 2111rpm and 2222rpm.
As far as the boom and TT lengths for the stretch, these are the measurements: E6: boom 770mm, TT 760mm E5 stretch kit (specifications): boom 710mm, TT 700mm E5 stock: boom 640mm, TT 632.5mm I ended up cutting the E6 boom down to 700mm and the TT 689mm. It looks like a 8mm difference is a flush fit. A few extra millimeters (10mm to 11mm) gives a little clearance, which should minimize possible vibrations. I am using the Rail 606/96 blades with this configuration, and there is plenty of clearance between the blades.
