Default better screw/bolt for feathering shaft

Hi Folks,
Just wondering if there is better thing to use than that stupid screw that's made of cheese on the end of the feathering shaft?

Has anybody used a hex head bolt? If you have what size was it?

I tried putting my slightly bend and then fairly well straightned feathering shaft back in today with a bit of CA (superglue) and it seemed to bond instantly and I couldn't screw the screw any further in that a few mm's, it then sheared of inside the shaft.

Good job is was the old one...It looks like superglue isn't a good thing to use. I might go with a tiny blob of blue locktight with the new shaft.

Well, Loctite is designed for the job, so why not use it ? Frankly, I am not surprised that you had problems using CA

Novus CP feather shafts. Perfect fit, dual hex head screws, comes with hex drivers.

Going to order a bunch more.

Is the Novus CP feathering shafts as durable as the oem mCPX ones?

Do you have a link on where to get these?

I haven't used them enough. Bent one but it was a very hard crash, so who knows.. I try not to crash with the 915 now. hahaa

They're about half the price of the MCPX ones.

Thanks for the info, those other feathering shafts look like a good idea if I can find them in the UK.

I would have used thread lock but I read on the web it is too strong and CA is less strong...At least locktight doesn't go off instantly....

Top tip, don't use CA!

Is there much diffrence between blue and purple locktight?

order of strenth for loctite as far as I know is green>red>blue>purple

edit: for feathering shaft, I would recommend using blue. It will hold tight but when I need to remove it, there is no problem.

CA is stronger than loctite/threadlocker blue. Similar, Purple is the preferred for tiny things (like the mCPX) but is a real pain in the butt to find, other than ordering online.

I highly recommend the blue threadlocker. It will come loose when needed. Use a tiny dab of the blue stuff (inside the feathering shaft, not on the screw, you don't want it to get inside the bearings) and snug the screw down, just lightly, let the loctite do it's job. That way you don't risk overtightening the screw and having it snap off during flight.
