Did u have to shape that top tray by hand? It Looks cool as hell....but if u had to cut the shape your self for top tray that seems like a but or work to do...that's why I did mine the easy way simple and fast just screws right on...but I'm jealous cause yours looks soo good...good job man!!

Thank you, and Thank you for the idea.
I cut down a gyro mount to make it. After I had it cut down and the corners rounded over I used double sided tape to stick the original gyro mount and the sensor shelf together in position to drill the holes.

Just had an idea, what if instead of mounting the sensor on the bottom or on the top is to put both in there, but mount the sensor upside to the 2nd deck, this way it's protected from impact... You might need to use taller then 20mm risers but it's possible.

I found the standoffs here. They have a few different sizes of them.

Dan - how did you cut the carbon gyro tray down?

I just received my spare tray, and want to make mine similar to yours. I am planning to use carbon rods for the standoffs, as I had some left over. I made mine 25mm long. Through-bolt them to the stock tray.

I used a scroll saw with a fence but you could use a dremel if need be. Just be careful while cutting.

Well, I wrapped it in masking tape, marked the cut, and clamped it to the table. I chopped it off with a hacksaw. Turned out fine. I have carbon tubes cut to 25mm for standoffs. I may spring for the posts though, so I can use the flast heads on top and bottom both, however.

Thanks!

Anxious to see your version of this mod Rob. I'm sure it will be 'trick'.

I don't have a recent pic, but it looks virtually identical to yours. Axial brand body posts, flat head socket cap screws (I wound up with Ti, but not intentionally). No straps. Just 3M Scotch 4010 Clear mounting tape.

I really like this product - Scotch 4010. It works well at attenuating vibrations enough to mount the gyros and holds well enough for receivers and ESC's. Even better, it comes off easily when it has to.
