Default Which 130HV is more reliable: OPTO or SBEC?

I'm considering installing an OPTO in my Goblin, and have been reviewing the HV failures. It looks as though they tend to be BEC related failures. Any comments or thoughts?

Im installing the 130 OPTO in mine..
I did see 1 go up in Austin but the guy was also toasting every other ESC he threw at it.. including the bulletproof helijive..( shutdowns)

so I kinda take his failure with a grain of salt..

Kind of hard to tell really

a) more SBEC has been made.
b) SBEC is more complex, a bad motor will more easy damage the SBEC version than an OPTO.

so, which one? Add external BEC to the OPTO and add possible failure on that one instead, nothing is foolproof.

I've gotten to the point where I fly all my helis that are over 600-sized with an external RX pack (i.e. no BEC) either LiFe or LiPo depending on the servos.

MrMel, how does the OPTO cable perform with the vBar for governor? I noticed that some people were thinking about rolling back to external phase sensors...

I'm using BEC + Opto cable just as any other, works great...

I suspect those that has trouble rather has grounding troubles or they use extension cables.
(Extension cable is OK if you extend the ESC side, not other side)

So it is preferable to extend the long lead of the OPTO cable rather than short lead going to the vbar sensor port.

Thank you for the tip. I have the short lead extended about 2 1/2 inches and get 3-4 governor errors per flight with no reaction on the Heli. Will switch extension.
