Default Case to hold 2 helis for transport and flying

I am looking at doing some flying with my helis.

This case seems to be perfect for transporting 2 500 class helis (Atom 500 and Goblin 500).

http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1740

I think I could also squeeze my transmitter, power supply, and charger in as well.

Any thoughts.

Any other options for moving a couple of helis?

My only concern would be weight when flying.

How else do people transport a 500 class heli when flying?

Hmm... Rob, have you checked out Princess Auto yet? Might be another option.

I see where you're going with this more now. I'll try to dig up some more information. I may have something through my packaging supplier that I deal with already.

Check this out and let me know what you think:

Just did one for OHB a few months ago to take my 2 700's. I shipped my batteries and charging setup. I checked the heli's and carried my transmitter in the case on the plane. no issues,
check it here

Reasonable price and shipping.

With that shop of yours, have you considered making your own case?

Rob, that thing is big enough that we can stuff both Don (gothicbunny) AND his helicopters in there!

Hmmm, don't give me any ideas....

I am having a really hard time not hitting the buy button....

That being said I can wait untill the 500 gobbler gets here and I can have a good measure on it and the atom.

Plus I come with built-in padding to protect the helis.

I think you should go for one big enough to put the scale bird in. Keep it protected at home and then should be plenty of room for the atom and gob500.

Yeah a case big enough for the scale would not travel on an airline without extra cost, plus they are in the $500+ category.... I could only see myself travelling with the 500's or one 700 which would fit with a small disassembly.

Believe me my overactive brain has been working through multiple combinations.

I'm seriously contemplating one of those rubbermaids to go on my new hitch mount rack. Don, I need you to accompany so we can test for proper fitment ... you could be like the new version of the trunk monkey, only you'd be the "trunk bunny"

BTW .... Jeff S. is up for the HF FunFly or IRCHA possibly.

I have a feeling this is going to wind up in a series of videos where Jeff reveals different things unloading from his storage box.

I could see Jeff taking his helis to the airport in a cardboard box wrapped in bubble wrap and stuffed in a giant ikea bag.

The rubbermaid container would be a good local solution. I have just seen too many things get destroyed on airlines.... I also like the ability to lock the case.

I could also use the case for normal airline travel for clothes and stuff on normal trips.

Now you are addicted, there are no normal trips. You will always find an excuse to bring a bird along.

I considered that case but decided to go with the much longer case for less disassembly. I travel for work and sometimes catch a ff while I'm away. doesn't leave much time for assembly. with the x7 pulling the boom is simple as I have it pinned so getting it back in perfect is easy. The 7hv is a pain cause of the belt, have to pull the head, main shaft , maingear out jst to remove the boom.
