n00b question about my motor
Hi everyone,
As you can tell I'm pretty new around here.. I was wondering if you could help me with a couple questions about my motor. Its a JGF 500T My motor wont spool up unless I manually 'bump' the rotor backwards a bit. Also when I turn the motor by hand its really hard to turn, like the magnets are doing their job.. like 'notchy' sortof.. is this normal? Also had a pretty major crash the other day, and I noticed the motor now it feels like there is a tiny bit of metal dust inside, like a slight grind once every turn. Note that the shaft isn't bent though... and the pinion isnt binding on the main gear. Any ideas of how I clean it out? How can I get my motor to start properly? Thanks Sent from my GT-S5570 using Tapatalk 2 |

I saw a JGF 500T on a fun jet, I think.
Could you please post a pic from the shaft side?

ZuvieleTeile, here are a few images for you. One of them is the one you requested.
I found the metal that was causing me dramas.. You can see it before and after I pulled it out. I didn't need to pull apart the motor, just poked at it gently with a pin, then for some unknown reason the metal bit stuck to the pin, so I quickly pulled it out!! It was the size of a grain of sand. Still dont know why the motor wont start on its own without help though.. it needs me to manually spin it before it will start... Can't really see, if there is a c-clip.
looks to me the shaft just bulges out above the bearing like on the Align 700MX. Reason for my question is to give you help, pulling it apart. Giving the motor a hand start can't be right. . . Could be a short inside. . . Maybe it is a ESC problem. Do you have a chance to connect another ESC and try to run it on the bench?

Yeah, I was thinking that the bearings are pressed on the shaft...
Its a 9 pole motor, so I was thinking the ESC timing might be wrong... I dont think theres a short, reason being the motor has TONS of power... ie. it lifts my 450 at easy at 70% throttle with a 4s 2200mah battery (its a heavy heli lol) and the motor is cold when the battery is done... |

Do you still have that little piece of metal that came out of the motor?
Check, if it is magnetic. Could be part of a broken magnet.

Unfortunately I threw it out... it might be, hope not..
But ive had this issue since the motor was new. Also I don't have a spare esc to test either. This is getting to be a pain in the butt. Maybe ill just put up with it? Sent from my GT-S5570 using Tapatalk 2 |
