I just replaced my stock TPS with another stock TPS because the straight pin broke. Sooo, I got about 3 flights out of it. Had some weird engine failure and planted it in the soft grass. Looked it over, nothing seemed broken. Reset it, tried to take off and it started spinning around. Did a good look over and noticed that the TPS pin broke again!!!! Dammit!!
Is this a common problem or am I just unlucky? I know that Rakon, MH and Xtreme have parts coming out.

Very common as I see. But did not happen to me personally in my 9 flights. You can replace the pin with CA and a CF rod or a paper clip worked for someone once too. You need to drill a hole in the side of the slider to hold the pin in though to get better contact.

My MH pitch slider arrrived yesterday and it looks really nice. I'll get to fly it today or tomorrow. The tail bearings seem to not have any slop also, unlike the stock bearings

The pin of my tail pitch slider broke after 8 batteries without any crash or contact of the 130X to anything!
Have already ordered a aluminium RKH one, hope to receive it soon. Walter |

Hi all, I drilled a small hole in the pitch slider where the pin had broken off ,zapped a vario plastic scale rivet inthe hole,,,,, fixed just flew it hard 3D, solid as a rock. Don't go and buy a new one :-)

I'm still running a stock tail pitch lever for the last 50 flights and it works perfectly. Replaced tail shaft and grips and a set of boca's on the tail shaft. Added an o-ring on the pin to reduce the slop. Then modified the tail grips with a Chinese weight mod to reduce servo load. Mine flys great.

Find a paper clip that is the same diameter or slightly smaller than your CF rod (I used 1mm rod, ~.039"). Heat the metal clip a bit with a torch and carefully touch the plastic where the old pin used to protrude, to make a hole. A short CF rod and a bit of CA glue later, and it's stronger than stock. Hi,
Quote:
Today I will receive my MH tail pitch slider (ordered here in Austria, the RKH one from Vietnam will probably take some time). Hope it gets better. Mounted Xtreme flanged upgrade bearings - both broke during flight!!! (no crash - the bearings are totally destroyed, inside part out). Back to stock bearings; further upgrade bearings (from MH and from Walkera) on the way. Lost the pin of the arm (servo pushrod - slider) now already two times during flight! Made custom ones. I do not feel save when flying my 130x; always fearing something of the tail parts breaks or gets lost during flight. Hope my final version (alu slider, upgrade bearings, alu tail rotor holder from RKH) will make my 130x save; made oring mods where possible... Walter |

My theory
Is that some tail bearings (if you can call 2 pieces of metal a bearing) are bad from new and play in the tail shaft is masked by a good bottom pin in the slider. When that breaks you notice the bearings are bad. Mine were gone in 2 flights ,just figure a bearing won't wear that quickly. +1 on gluing them too, but i found when i had the bearing out, it was wonky too. |

I tried yesterday evening. Got MH-slider, wanted to mount it. Tail blades seemed to be balanced quite well for me (tried with tail rotor axis), but tail rotor axis was not perfectly rectangular. So I wanted to remove the tail blade holders and mount a new axis. But one of the holders was not to remove... axis was somewhat fixed in the bearing of the holder. When trying with more power I broke the ball of the holder Then I unpacked a new tail rotor axis. But: it was rusty! Totally rusty (out of the - sealed - bag). Threads were rusty, t-connection was rusty, even shaft was little rusty. Used WD40 and then tried to screw a screw in the thread, did not work, broke screw ... have to waste the axis; bad luck, it was quite perfectly rectangular. So I will go to the hobbyshop today and buy tail blade holders and more tail rotor axes... Rusty new part - I hardly can believe this... Walter |
