I wanna throw a cheapie 3s 1300 mah lipo that went to my Blade CP that died into my Futaba TX...

As long as the battery is balanced, charged @ 1C...etc, is there any reason (safetywise) that this shouldn't be done? The TX beeps a warning continuously below 9v, so it won't over-discharge (theoretically).

Futaba 6EXH, the manual says it accepts 12v alkaline, so I don't think a lipo will fry it.

I've had the same TP 2100 3cell in my Futaba 9C for years. It's awesome, the TX can sit for months without dropping voltage and I can go 3 or 4 weekends of flying before it needs recharging. HRH (Highly Reccommended Hack.)

I've posted this so many times over the last 3 weeks, you'd think I was a rep for commonsense batteries. I'm not, just when there is a good product and my personal experience with it, I'll give that company all the word of mouth I can. Now that the ad is over. LOL
By all means go to commonsense and get one for you TX. If you can't find it, call them, there phone help is great. You can't beat the price either. One thing, DO NOT TRY TO CHARGE THESE WITH THE TX CHARGER !!!!. They are lipo batteries and require a lipo charger. One last thing, you will have to make up an end for yout TX, but it just take a sec and you should know how to make up ends if your in this hobby anyway.

Sure you can, and if it doesn't fit just take the lipo out and stomp on it a few times and then it'll fit. Hee hee!

Some tx's are happy with a LiPo pack starting voltage of 12.4v and some are not. I was warned that my Futaba 7CHP wouldn't like it at all so I went to www.hangtimes.com and got a 1650mAh NiMH for $40 shipped. I get 3-4 FULL days of flying between charges.

Yeah, I have a Maxamps.com 2200mah NiMh battery in my Tx right now.....I'd like a LiPo in it though........I don't see any specs on what my Tx can handle in the manual though.

NiMH lasts a long time (2500 mah) and you do not have to remove it from the tx case to charge (you must watch a Lipo while charging- something I do not want to do).

Does the internal circuitry of a 9303 handle higher current alright?

nope, you don't need to do that. NiMH is NiMH regardless of size. I assume it's an 8 cell though.

You don't have to upgrade to their charger, but a 2700 NiMH batt will not ever reach its peak performance unless it's charged the first few times with a non peak-sensing charger (or a wallwart of at least 200 mA output). This is important especially when it's brand new for what is called 'seasoning' or 'break-in', important on all NiMH batts. It needs charging with a non peak-sensing charger the first few times.

If you buy the Hangtimes batt it'll come with detailed instructions on how to get the most out of the batt. I chose the 1650 instead of the 2700 so I could still use my Futaba wall wort to season it. Believe me, 3-4 days of flying (nearly 30 flights) is plenty for most people, and besides you'll have your original tx batt as a backup.

No, the cover fits on with plenty of room to spare between the inside and the battery.
