Just a little added information. That boat was built by Rich Ballentine in florida about 8 to 10 years ago. His hulls were well built sport boat hulls. He made all his own hardware and developed the process for masking the parts when he anodized them to put the patterns in them . They were not laser etched. They sold for about $900 new. Ray Lamm with Recon boat works has all of the old molds for all of Riches boats. I used to run Ballentine hardware around 2004 to 2005 and then he got out of the business and persued his music.

If you've got an issue with the pricing, take it to the seller via PM. If you're not interested in buying the item, "walk" away. Torpedoing another's ad like this is against the rules. Future occurrences such as this may result in an infraction being levied.

This is one of Rich's Boats. It is a Ballantine Griffin 65" with a G-62 with water jacket and same water cooled tuned pipe. LOVED the boat, got kicked off the lake. It was fast and beautiful. Mine was acid etched, and it was done before he started doing a lot of anodizing and his father was still alive. I sold this boat for 1900 + Shipping. Rich's boats are not race boats but you would be hard pressed to find anything nicer for the money. I love the hand crafted and Rich designed hardware. I am a HUGE fan or Rich and his Dad's work. If I was looking for another of Rich's boats which you have not been able to buy in at least 5 years or more, the listed price is not a bad deal at all IMHO and I would buy it myself if I had a place to run it. Rich is a very cool dude I wish I still had his number to call him sometime. I wonder if he ever moved to Franklin, NC like he was planning?

Here are some pics of the Griffin.

I don't think I did anything but post fact. These boats are well made and have held there value with the folks that know what they are. His price is not out of line for someone who is looking for one of Rich's boats but the forum he is trying to sell it in is not the best place to get what he is asking. As far as I know Rich is still in Florida and still playing in a band. Ray with Recon has his contact information and all the molds. I have one of the 65" hulls that Ray did out of the old molds and am building a G62 based off of measurements from one of Rich's motors. I am a fan of his work and doing this boat because of that.

Yea Rich's work is very nice. My boat was the first 65" Griffin built in late 2001 to early 2002. That is why it has 2002.1 on the water jacket on the head. The thing was SWEET.

Check the prop size. This is a real Prop Shop Prop.

GPS from very first test runs at the lake. Not to bad for a new engine not broken in and on a bit of a rough water day from a HUGE 65" boat.

Who knows, a lot of people look at our for sale forums. There is a lot of trash for sale with converted Zens in them all over the net, but Ballantine boats are worth a lot more IMHO. Made in the USA including the hardware. Rich also has an attention to detail that the mass produced crap just does not have.

Thanks for the heads-up about how to get in contact with Rich again.

Good luck with the sale Mystic, you have a nice boat on your hands for sure.

Thanks Guys.

Will you might appreciate this , I bought it to put it in the back of my Mastercraft 230 VRS. Was not huge into boats just knew it looked like a high quality boat to have some fun with. Nice to know some of the history.

I posted here becasue I trust the people here, did not want to join a boat forum for the sole purpose of selling it. If it sells, fine, if not, that's cool too.

RC Universe would not be a bad place to try it in for sale section. You do have to deal with the low ballers but it does get a lot of exposure to folks that know boats. I have seen the struts and rudders sell for $150 for the pair there.
