Default Anyone find a good M2 Lock Nut?

I too have tried to find a black M2 nylon lock nut without much success... I know I'm preaching to the choir, but it would sure be nice to be able to purchase hardware/fasteners from MSH. I can't imagine those little black lock nuts will work forever, they'll eventually quit "locking" or I'll lose the tiny little buggers. Anyone have recommendations on something to use instead? I suppose worst case I could use a non-locking nut and just use thread locker.

Also, how many of you are using red thread-locker on the spindle screws? Anywhere else you'd recommend using red in place of the blue?

A new locknut thread?

I just had to post in it. I bought a pack of 10 from AMAIN. For fusion or furion or something. I forget. They were fine.

I would never use red thread lock on any thing in this heli. For the spindle screws I lay a ridiculously thin blue on the tip, firmly tighten and thats it... I do the same with all other metal-metal screws. Never had any come off so far .

Normal nuts with thread lock will work just fine, However, for critical areas such as main hub and gear to main shaft, you may use two nuts and a threadlock. That's how it is done with some heli makes.

I use red locktite on the entire machine exclusively. It is applied very sparingly to only a few pitches of the threads with the tip of an exacto knife blade or you can wipe it off with your finger leaving that very small amount in a few pitches. No issues taking things apart as it was not goobered all over the threads. Again it is only a wisp and not coated on. Even use it on some locking nuts as well, like the M2's. Anytime you have a screw that passes through a bearing then you want to apply the locktite to the receiving threads and not the screw. This will keep the bearings/assy clean. Only exception to this is using green locktite for bearings, and again it is used with discretion. And be careful with any locknut usage as some of these locking products tend to attack plastics and weaken them.

Thanks guys, I knew this had been touched upon several times, but seems most of the lock nuts available are either SS or M2.5. I'll check Amain and see if I can find some. Thanks!

Thanks Mike, but I'm after M2 lock nuts to replace the ones in the Mini Protos Kit. I do believe they're all M2, not M2.5. Thanks though!

Default RTL

RTL Bolts are awesome. They don't have too many odd sizes though. Washers are functional but not polished like the ones MSH gives you. Can't find those anywhere. I suspect the nuts are just zinc plated as well.

I use these and they work fine: http://helidirect.com/hex-nylon-inse...pcs-p-3161.hdx

Do they really need to be black?

Hope this helps...

Ty

PM me your mailing address and I'll send you an M2 lock nut. You will have to settle for silver color.
