Default Fuel Line Grommets?

Can someone please tell me what the deal is here? Another Align mistake?

I'm trying to put in the grommets as suggested in the manual, one hole is clearly smaller than the other and when I put the grommet in the smaller hole it doesn't fit.

Any ideas on this? Misprint on the Carbon Fiber Frame?

even though one hole is much smaller than the other? Or is my frame wrong? Should the upper holes be the same size?

I've had a similar issue, with one of the holes being smaller. I got the grommet in there but I'm a bit concerned that it's pinching the fuel line slightly. Haven't flown it yet though and perhaps I'll try and expand the hole a little bit.

The frame is the same, one hole is bigger probably so the fuel line can slant

Well I wouldn"t be too concerned they designed it that way for some reason

The smaller hole is where the fuel line from the tank goes and this is the one that needs to slant so I kind of doubt that theory.

Just use some some "human lube" like Bob says..., aka...spit. They fit, but tight.

Yes but why are the holes different sizes? Mine did fit but before I've even flown it one of the grommets (in the small hole) has disintegrated just from adjusting the fuel tube. I'm going to drill it a bit larger because as pointed out above it's barely any larger than the fuel tube itself.

well, I drilled it, I think with a 5/16's bit.

The hole came out slightly larger than the other hole but the grommet fits and the fuel tube fits nice and snug.

There was no possible way the grommet and tube was going to fit. There must have been a few frame mistakes shipped out there.

No worries, it looks great now.

I took a bit of silicone grease and covered the rubber grommet inside with it and the tube just went in very easy. I can pull the tube now, if it needs adjusting, easily. Scotty the tube fits just fine, it's trying to fit the grommet in the frame hole that is a pain in the butt.

Good question. My take is, that the small hole is only for aspiration to the tank (keeping positive fuel pressure). I think you can use smaller diameter fuel tube, like a clunk line vs. the big hole where the fuel feeding tube goes through.

If you compare clunk tubes vs. regular fuel tubing, you'll notice a slight diameter difference.

Surely if that was the case then the kit would come with a smaller diameter fuel tube? Anyway, the smaller hole on my frame is the one that the fuel flows through according to the manual so that certainly doesn't make sense to me.

OK, my argument just collapsed. I guess their computerized CF cutters make mistakes then. A bit of silicone grease did the trick for me.

I don't know, the whole thing is just screwy to me. So I expanded the whole and it seems like it's all going to work well.

Ready to Fly!!!!

Just did a 700le build and holes for the gromets are 2 different sizes.
I never use the fuel tubing that comes with kits because its junk replaced it with my favorite tubing, bagged the gromets because the tubing I use doesn't fit!!! Besides, it's a kit, build it the way you want it if it doesn't fit, do what you need to do to make it fit, short of using a hammer on it..
