Default Fan puller for 50 size engine???? CONFUSED !!

Guys..

I am so confused.! I am stuck at the fan.. tried to order a fan puller through the LHS. and they could only find the 60 / 90 size fan puller. Its too big!

I need this fan out... I am wanting to rebuild the engine.. its just not working. Its like someone tightened it with superhuman force ( it was bought from a user here, and this is the first time i am opening it) .. I need some help with this.

please let me know how you guys do it? how do you take out the fan of a Vibe 50 ??? I have taken out the nut. all thats holding it now are the two tapered collets.

HELP !!! :/

On a collet type fan, you'll need a puller, or so I'm told.

I would just try to heat the fan hub a little, even just using a hair dryer would likely be enough, the aluminum hub should heat and expand quicker than the steal on the engine. Than gently tap it off from behind working around the hub evenly with each tap. Should pop off. That's what I would do/have done in a pinch.

Something to consider is that the previous builder may have managed to get some loc-tite down in there by mistake, which of course will make getting that off just a little bit more interesting... Again, heat is your friend.

i am guessing, that then even if I have the fan puller, I'll be using some heat.. lol... well life is always interesting..

I actually did heat it in an oven on 300 for a bit... tried to twist it.. man this thing didnt wanna budge a little!! and then having plastic fan blades, I didnt want to basically break the hot plastic.. so....... I am in a little bit of a poop .. lol

I cut a slot in a metal disk and slid it behind the fan, then used an automobile gear puller from oreileys auto parts to pop the fan off a 16 year old webra....worked well.

it is the collet system that is the issue. You can lock the crank with a crank tool (requires removing the backplate) and twist the fan. It will help to bust it loose but you'll most likely need a tool due to the design.

Other hub designs such as the trex that are just a slip fit (no collet) onto the crank, you can simply lock the crank and twist off. Collets are a better design, hold tighter and more true that something like the trex design.

The Vibe collets can squeeze into the threads. So try twisting as mentioned.

Precisionhelitools.com makes a nice and adjustable puller for 50s thru 1.20s.

Well barely.

Don't use the screws it comes with.. Too small.. May be it was my hub or I donno, but my puller stripped right out.. Lol..

It loosened it a bit, and I was able to twist it and remove it..

Use longer screws though.,
