Default 6HVU vs Goblin 570

I was set on getting a 6HVU to fill my perceived gap in my helicopter lineup but then I heard about the Goblin 570 and got a bit confused. I am still leaning towards getting a 6HVU but I wonder what others would think about a head to head comparison between the 6HVU and the Goblin 500.

Things I can think of with regards to each:

6HV Ultimate

PROS:
1. Designed as a 600.
2. Performance compared to other 600s appear to be unmatched based on testimonials of owners who have flown multiple brand of 550s and 600s (Logos, Align, Synergy).
3. Easily accommodate an Rx pack along with 3300 mah flight packs.

CONS:
1. Needs a de-stretch kit to be a 550.
2. Struts needs improving.
3. To many it is not as nice looking as the Goblin.

Goblin 570:

PROS:
1. Can be built as a 6S 550 or 12S 570 without stretch kit.
2. Goblin look.
3. It is being hyped as a "light" machine... From the SAB page: Weight including electronics: 2400 g (excluding batteries).

CONS:
1. Built on a 500 frame and components (tail?). Will it withstand the abuse in 12S mode?
2. Goblin look.
3. Non standard blade size for the 12S version.

Again I am just hoping for a healthy discussion as the Compass forums has been quiet lately.

I decided that 550 is my favorite mid-size heli, love the feel & shares 700 packs, therefor I have somehow justified adding yet another heli to my fleet.

If I didn't have a G500 already I would likely want the 570. It will be interesting to see how this model sells.....

I was actually waiting for the compass550, I want single 5000 pacs.

I'm sure the 570 will be great, cept it still looks like a Goblin

Really you should be comparing to 550U since both are 550's and neither is attainable yet. 550U would run 6S 5000 or just the same 12S 2600 as I am doing in my Agile 5.5.

If your so mixed up wait to see one of each. Santino is building a 570 and I'm sure Danial will do a 550U. I don't think I will since it's to much the same as my 6U. But I might try the 'shrink kit' when it's out.

6U you'd be looking at 33-3700 packs though I am giving mine a go with 2600's and 600mm blades. If I get decent flight I can standardize my pack size some.

Not sure about doing the 550 i never found a real advantage of a 550 over a 600 price or performance wise except for running a single pack which doesn't matter for me, especially running 14s in my 7hv.

I thought for sure you would. Maybe a 7S 550...

Well, some clarifications here.

1. No "de-stretch" kit required for the 550U - it will be it's own kit complete in box.
2. Struts are being improved and the result should be available soon.
3. Subjective.

3. 2400g (excluding batteries) means with a 5000mah pack it will sit at 3240g-3300g and that's likely using an internal BEC. The 6HV Ultimate is about 3855g-3880g including 2x6S packs and 1x2S receiver pack and swings blades that will create a rotor disc area of at least 90mm larger .... that's a lot of extra lift.

Even then, weight isn't everything. One of the best 550's I've flown is considered relatively heavy, the Synergy E5, and it is an awesome machine. Weight isn't everything, and stats on paper aren't everything.

How is your 6HVU flying on 12s 2600 mAh packs Scott? It seems most guys are using 3000-3300 packs (~520 gram) as this is best for CG. I have a few 2600 mAh packs and wouldn't mind flying them on the 6HVU for more relaxed, lower-moderate HS flying. I understand the guys liking a machine that works on 6s 5000, but if one doesn't have a large 700, the need for battery compatibility is less of a concern.

Haven't tried it yet but plan to.
Should be able to get CG just fine.

Agreed, I understand the convenience of 1 battery but even with 550mm blades 6s systems just work too hard, get to warm, and batteries dont last as long. I'll take a 12s 600 any day over a 6s 550. 12s 700s are hard on your stuff too.

This is the reason I am almost 100% sure I will be getting a 12S. I have half a dozen 3300 mah lipos I'm using for my Atoms that can be used for 12S duty. Going 12S can probably save me money over 6S. For one thing the ESC will be cheaper (80-90HV vs 120HV). Also I should be able to reuse the Rx pack I am using for my 7HV. An Rx pack for a 550 almost doesn't make sense as weight is more of an issue for that class.

See 2 guys who own goblins advising to go with 6hvu.....

If you really want an even better budget option I have a 6hv classic airframe that could use a home......

For goodness sake Clem, can you get any more "team piolt" references in your signature???

I would like to, but I ran out of room...

I am extremely fortunate to be able to work with a lot of great people/companies!

Very cool new 6HVU canopy. The G570 looks like just another Goblin. But, it will probably be another very nice helicopter.

I think he might fit them on there if he didn't try to show a partial list of the models he's currently flying

Will pass for now, and also planning for a 16s 7hv this summer with my spare airframe, just need to find some 8s packs which i cant find any reasonable ones yet. Hobbyking 8s packs dont count. Thunder power cost almost 600$ for a set of 3850 8s 70c.
