You may want to put one of those red Gaui straps around the Beast bud!

Will stop any wobble with aggressive pitch changes.

Looking good!

Current setup:

Scorpion "LE" 4020-910kv
Jive 100LV
BLS451's on cyclic
BLS251 on tail
Mikado vbar 5.1 Std
FES head w/black dampers
Edge 523's fbl
KBDD tail blades

I'm running +/- 14* of collective and 9* of cyclic at 2400 w/15t pinion. Performance is supurb! I am easily getting 5 minutes of consistent headspeed and power from 6s Hyperion VX 35c 4200's. Very efficient setup! Everything comes down mildly warm.

(edit) As Vas reminded me, I am also using shorter balls on the swash for the swash to blade grip link rods. The point of this mod is to reduce to collective to swash ratio thereby improving cyclic resolution.

Thanks cdsexton i've got alot of time in it, i'm a little too meticulous about building. But atleast I know its good . It's ready for maiden but its snowing here, might take it to my work and do my tracking and hovering trim flight in the shop.

I miss my x5. Big mistake letting that thing go. It will most likely be my next build, budget permitting.

Default My settings

Well, mine is close to dialed in so here we go:

X5 FES
12.5* collective pitch
10.5* cyclic pitch
15T pinion
stock 520 blades
93-83-93 TC (gives me around 2400 rpm)
0-100 PC
-15% expo on swash
-30% expo on tail
(negative expo on my Futaba radio means softer.)
Rudder endpoints reduced to 98%
(Because BeastX indicated flashing LED at full rudder stick, see page 66 v3.0 manual)

BeastX v3.0.8 (Blue at 6*, Step J)
Parameter menu:
A. -
B. blue
C. blue f.
D. red
E. red f.
F. user def. (see att.)
G. red
H. purple

Dial 1. 0 (stock)
Dial 2. 0 (stock)
Dial 3. 2 marks above stock

Gyro Gain: LED i

Hope this helps!

Why did you have to use revo mixing? If your tail is kicking you may have some strange binding or something odd going with it.
There are a whole lot of folks at my local field with X5's and beastx set-ups and I may be wrong but I dont think anyone that I fly with is having to run any kind of revo mix on there X5 with beastx setup

My guess is you never tried the BeastX V3 Tuning Guide.

This guide always used revomix to setup the tail.
However, today it's updated with new info, from BeastX team.
Guess what, no more revomix suggested but a different way to tune the tail.
Going to do the tail all over and see how it goes.
(FYI, the current setting does work very well.)

Yes, I did some more flights with revomix turned off.
I upped Parameter D to very high. (Blue)
At that point my tail starts to wag violently when in FFF.
(Nose down and stick at full collective, OMG it's fast. )

Went back one step on Parameter D and set for high. (Blue flashing.)
At this point it seems to work equally as well when using a bit revomix.
Tail is solid.

I have to do some more flights to find out if I keep the current setting.

So I opened up my upgraded x5 and I could not be happier. 8 batts without a hitch. Did not think I could grin any bigger but I did...

So I had an X5 with 610@8v for a year and I thought it was a great. Since my 9yr old picked up the hobby, obviously his first big heli would be an X5. So I gave him mine and set up my new beast...

8717
8900 w/ vr5203 reg
2s 1300 mah direct
Vbar 5.2 w/ gov
Stock motor, 16t
Stock Esc
Edge 523
X4 main head yoke
6x GenAce 4k 25c
2x Sky Lipo 4400 40c

So I went from Vbar silver sensor 4.0 to Vbar blue sensor 5.2. From 610 to 8717. From 14t flat curve, to 16t gov. Much more crisp at center stick. Very solid. I feel alot more precision in my moves which gives me more confidence. The gov is amazing! No more over-revs and super consistent headspeed.

@ccnada: You must like living on the edge? I mean 610's@8V...

I see you use a 16T pinion, which headspeed do you run governed?
