JR NEX E6-550 and VBar Governor
Has anyone used the VBar Governor with the stock combo motor (1750 kV) and 11T or 12T pinion?
I can't get it to go less than 1440 rpm in bailout mode and it looks like anything less than 2350 rpm may result in the ESC overheating. I asked Mikado for help and they said "[it is a] misconfigured drive train which runs way too much in low PWM". They made some useful suggestions for reducing the basic, minimum throttle and idle. I was hoping to run it at around 2000 rpm but is that too low for this heli? |

You need to find a 10 tooth 6mm mod .7 pinion.
You could always use a KDE motor with a lower kv. What size battery are you using? Are you running the 2 or 3 blade head?

Hi Justin,
I am using the 2-blade head and a 6S battery (Gens Ace 4400/3850 45C). I just wanted to get slightly longer flight times and not push it as hard, but if the NEX is best at higher RPMs, then I guess I'll have to live with it. What RPMs do you have yours set at for Normal/IU1 and 2? I should point out that I haven't actually flown the helicopter yet. Mikado says that the bailout speed of 1440 rpm is correct: "this drive system is set for approx. 2,850 rpm at nominal voltage, at full throttle. So 50 % is about what you get at the lowest setting, and that also explains the overshooting." |
