Default A little SR adjusting

Finally got some time to try and get this thing back to where it was flying good.
Although in the video is it still twitchy in the tail. After this video i tweaked the ESC just a hair positive, and lowered my pot on the gyro a tad, the tail was much better then....
Video 2 (2 min 12 sec)

Good deal! Glad to see that you are getting the SR back to where it should be. Haven't started rebuilding mine yet. Might just wait and put the money towards the 230s. Still undecided cause I really like the SR.

Hi Night, some nice tail in flying there.
Its nice to see someone taking off slowly and not popping it into the sky at 100mph.

As we all know, the SR is a challenge to fly and when you move up to a larger heli or one of a more modern design, you'll be really surprised at how easy you find its actually is to fly a larger heli.

Its great to see someone else keeping the SR alive !

My SR is on the bench after I ploughed it into a tree ! but that's another story !

Oh you gotta rebuild it, if nothing else keep it as a shelf queen to be sat up next to the new generation flier 230s for compairison purposes.

Yeah got the tail dialed back in pretty good now.

Yeah that was about all I had the nerve to do with that thing in that video.
If you look closely you'll see a pretty good wag going on there with it. I finally tweeked it enough and got her holding pretty good. Next test will be at the club, see how she flies..

Oh, I will rebuild it. Was thinking about it last nite and came to the conclusion that I have to get the SR goin again. If for nothing else, at least it will be a good warm up for flying my other helis.

Like Nigel said, its nice that a few of us have a well functioning SR and still fly them. Gotta keep it goin.

This is true! i'm kinda a sucker for then and now stuff, plus all the time I spent learning about heli's crashing this thing and finally being able to fly it, now its kinda got a little soft spot in my heart...
I gotta start gathering parts for the SR/230s project, have to get some microheli bling for the head/swash, find some carbon fiber blades, and start buying the tail parts, electronics I will need off of the 230s.
I'll really start in on it this winter I think, and in the meantime start putting away for a BNF 230s and get that in the spring, while putting the SR/230s together.

I picked up an Align 450 pro to replace my smacked up HKMutt450, so I am directing funds/time toward that project at the moment. I'm converting that to a DFC, have the parts on the way, right now I am stripping the thing and going over it with a fine tooth comb. I ran into a snag last night with stubborn screws on the main bearing blocks, had about 5 screws wouldn't come out....now I only have 2 to get out, then its cleanup, and begin the build!
Oh hey what servo would you recommend to use on cyclics? I want to use some decent ones with it. Should I just go with the Align DS4somethings?
I am kinda looking at the KST servos, or even using the EMAX 09's that I use on my V450 with the Kbar on it. That thing is a sweet flier!
I'm going to use a BeastX FBL controller on it.....

I use Turnigy 212dmh on the cyclics on my 450 pro with a Futaba 401 gyro and a 9257 on the tail. But on my Hausler 450se I use the Emax 08's for cyclic servos. But both helis are flybarred and both perform great. But, if you are goin FBL with a Beastx you are gonna be better off with the Turnigy 212dmh's. They are digital, coreless motors, metal gears, dual ball bearings and are pretty fast, .07 seconds at 4.8v and are only $19 each at Hobby King. I love them. They work great on my 450 pro. As for the ta, the 9257 works good for me but it is a bit out dated. I run a Turnigy 306g on my 250 but it will also perform great on the tail of a 450.

KST servos and Turnigy servos are very similar. The 306g is a clone of the MKS ds95 which KST makes the same clone servo which is the KST ds213mg. It even looks the same as the Turnigy 306g and close to the same price. They have 2.4kg of torque at 4.8v and run at .06 seconds at 4.8v. You can't go wrong with either of those on the tail.

You will probably get a lot of different opinions, but that is what I run and they work great for me. The Turnigy servos are a good budget servo. Have no problems with them at all.

Thank you for the info, will check em out!
Just got some parts tonight, and am beginning assembly! The bearing blocks were a pain pain to get outta the frame!!! I had to carefully and tediously grind the heads off the screws to get them off! I tried a couple different methods cutting slots, larger size allen driver, to no avail. Finally got out my grinding disk on my dremmel and ground down the heads until the were free. It took quite a while to do it but I got em off replaced bearings and they are back in the frame now.....without the gob of threadlock that was on the screws. Oh luckily i bought a screw pack that contains screws for 250/450/and 500 in the bunch....it was a little expensive ($30.00) but I have had to use things out of it a few times between the 450's and 500's. It contains washers and shims also. A good kit to have around!

Screw pack sounds like something I could use. Where did you get it? As you see the screws on the 450 strip pretty easy and are a PIA to get out sometimes. They do put a lot of thread lock on them.

I found that if you heat the head of the screw with a soldering iron, or something of that sort, it will loosen up the thread lock and the screws will be a bit easier to get out. But either way they are still a pain. Have replaced a lot of screws between the 450's, the SR and now the 250 (broke 2 already).

Here ya go!
Well worth it believe me! Like I said there is a crap load of screws washers, shims, all for 250-500 series helis.
