Below is a picture of the MX-450 next to a blinged Mx-400, and also a couple of pictures of my mod, a battery tray. Also, I thought I might share, an idea for a free yet effective carrying case for the heli. Glue the sides of the box the heli comes in shut, and open the box from the top. I made a blue styrofoam insert to keep the boom in place and thats it. Pretty handy. And did I mention free?
If I was to do it over again, I think I wouldn't have went x400 pro. Just because I want to push the heli to the limit constantly. I think trex S cf model is at a nice price. GrandRc, it was a no win situation, I already had the ccpm mod for x400. I could either buy the trex.. Or spend the same and get all metal head/tail. Well I went all metal, even replaced mx400 pro metal tail with the trex xl metal version. I didn't see any reason why not. They don't seem to be changing enough in the models to make a difference. Unlike align and 3rd party devolopers. The parts are actually more expensive, notice the microheli x400 front gear drive and pulley is 30$ compared the the microheli trex ftront grear drive and pulley, like 10$?

Only thing left 400 pro is the fins, main drive gear, HM cf ccpm frame, x400 skids. It might as well be trex se.

Thanks to everyone on the forums, thoughts, ideas, and Bob's videos, I've learned how to fine tune this beast

Lightbulb TREX vs MX400 swashplate

I notice that MX400 uses a 4 control rod swash plate vs 3 from TREX. MX400 does a look a lot better since aileron won't affect elevator. Is this true ?

Both mechanical and ccpm have ups and downs. The x400 is a good learning heli for flight and working on. My Wife made me sell mine as It was the oldest in the fleet when I started getting too many helis and they got in the way. LOL I kept my alumi parts and elects making a deal with my dad as I got him into helis and he has a x400. I still like the x400 and wish they would make a 600 but for now my rex 600 is the most flown bird.
Ok back on track. With the 400 you can get the ccpm kit and go to that once you advance to sport flying. Also the x400 is a great fit for fun scale.

here's a few of my MX400-ish.. it started life as an MX450 when I picked it up, I tried to set it up and fly it but couldn't figure out the mixing part, finally I added the swash and everything else from spare MX400 parts to get this... that way I could duplicate my programming and fly it.

I've figured out the error of my ways now, but am kind of liking this the way it is..

MX450
MX400 swash
Align CF boom
painted by me
Hitec servos
Trex stabilizers (they were in stock)
Trex pushrod for rudder
Align main blades and rear rotor blades

nothing special, but flies great for me!

Default Here's mine...

She is almost ready for flight. Just to get in the air, it needs the following:
9T pinion
c/f rod for tail
solder male deans connector to bec/esc (still working up the courage)
Tx/Rx (6EXP w/ 8 chnl Rx or DX7)

As for the upgrades, it still needs the following:
alum. tail pitch slider
alum. tail boom mount
alum. counter gear mount
alum. main shaft mount
alum. stabilizer kit
alum. main grips
c/f 325 main blades

I have the c/f stabilizer fins, just can't seem to find them at the moment.

As for the setup/routing, how does everything look? (I want the gyro where it is)

Edit: Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I put the ball link on the leading edge of the tail grips, and will do so for the main grips once I upgrade to the alum. stabilizer kit.

That was my advice for a biginner. I have killed enough walkies that I have a real distast for them. The heli without the elecs is good but to start with somthing that setup wrong at the factory with cheep elecs turns many peaple away from the hobby.

The smallest you will find to fit the 430L is a 10t made for the eco. An 11t will work good too.
