I asked the same question about the 800.
Dave said that the bearings are much larger and don't require oil. I oil my 4035-500 bearing every 5-8 flights Interested in the answer also .. subscribed MArtin

I oil the top bearing about every 15-20 flights. I oil the bottom bearing if I can get to it on a heli and it is the one that needs oil the most I would assume since the lower bearing is what takes the most load.
I use the same oil on the main shaft and heim ball and tail rotor shaft as well. I put a drop on all three when at home after a days of flying when I check machine over while I am storage charging packs. Simple stuff like are boom struts tight, boom clamp, head block, etc. Only takes a few seconds. I know thread was about oiling motor bearings but I digressed into a general maintenance thread. Well, I saw a fellow pilot oiling his scorpion motor at the field 2 weeks ago which made me think about it. It has been a couple years since I used a scorpion motor and I forgot all about oiling the bearings.
Someone told me that it is not necessary and once you do oil them you have to keep oiling them ( oil flushes out the grease). I guess I will go with scorpions recommendations and oil the bearings. Although I have about 75 flights with no issues. J

I have not been oiling the Scorpion, 220 flights so far. I do oil the pinion support bearing and tail box bearings every flying day with triflow. Oil the one way with a little ATF every flying day too.

Exactly. That has been my concern too. I have some Scorpion motor bearing oil laying around, but not sure what to do really. I did oil the previous Plettenberg motor which I ran in my Logo 500. However, the bearings started to make a whistling sound after a while, and I had to change them.

I don't recall where i read it , but i understood the larger motors were good but the smaller ones need oil.
Safe to assume if the motor runs hot more oil. Martin
