Default Align 250 Hughes 500 Project

Hello there. I just got back from the AMA show. Dad and I splurged on a couple of hel-ish-toy's!
One of my upcoming projects will be an Align 250 helicopter with their Hughes 500 scale fuselage. I want to know, is there a five-blade head available for the 250-sized helicopter?
I think Microheli has one don't they? Hoping to find something better than Microheli for this project if possilble. If not, will Microheli's system be good enough?

Chances are, I won't fly it much. And when I do fly it, it'll be very calm scale-like flying.

Hi there, yes I was thinking the same thing. I'll have a look at RC-Expert soon, thank you!
I got Align's yellow Hughes 500 fuselage for it and plan on having it either painted military style, or Magnum PI's style.

Will post the project when I start building it.

Anybody else in the process of building a 250? I've got the 250SE kit, and it is certainly a handsome kit at that!

Would like to compare progress builds if possible. Thanks!

Default 250 project

I'm about to start the same build. I have the NYPD fuselage. I just ordered the 250se from rcprofesionals. I think there the same company as rc expert. Try scaleflying.com too. My se should be in next week and I plan on using the build videos here. I've built a 450 pro in the past off Bob's videos. There awesome

There are tons of md500's, but doing a magnum PI would be a breath of fresh air.. Atleast your not doing ANOTHER Airwolf UNGH...

Anyone make a Commanche fuselage? I have seen a Blue Thunder which was pretty cool, but it was HUGE scale, anyone seen a BT fuselage for 500-600 size?

That's coming soon to a theatre near you. As we just got two Walkera 450 flybarless helicopters, one of them is going to be for my Align Airwolf fuselage.

If there was an Airwolf fuselage available for the 250, I probably would've done it, however I also love the Hughes 500 and the Hughey Cobra as well. Since the Hughes 500 was readily available, I jumped on it. Plus, it look's like a good size-up for the 450 Airwolf. Maybe not exactly to scale or anything, but good enough for display.
Yea, Magnum would be refreshing to see, and would be cool next to Wolfy.
I'll have to see what my painter can do for me.

Looks great, but it seems to have been out of stock for quite a while now.
Anyone knows where to get it?

You might be better off adapting on a Gaui head (available in 3, 4, 5 blades) to the T250 with a main bearing swap

(pardon the shaky 3G flight...BeastX is in its future)

Lightning heli stuff can be pretty scary

Where can I get the Gaui head?
Nice video, and nice helicopter. Is that the same fuselage I got just painted different color? Or is this a different fuse all together? I have Aligns fuselage.

Here is the beginning of my build. I am using this very nice magnetically-backed tray to work on. It has separate compartments for storing screws and parts in a neat orderly fashion. Sorry, I forget where I purchased this mat from but they come in three different sizes. Micro, Mini, and Mega. Mine is the mini-sized. I purchased this back a few years ago when racing Kyosho Mini-Z's.
Anyway, I can unzip a few bags of screws and parts and organize them neatly in these little compartments.
With this, I don't lose screws during the build!

Anyway, here is the assembly of the head, flybar, and a few linkages.

Okay, now I remember where I got the mat from. If anybody is interested in one, search CowRC.com. I know, strange name but this is an awesome product to have on your workbench.

allerc.com or hobby-lobby.com should have the heads.

Here's some info on mine:

Off-topic here, but thanks for this pointer! I just ordered one.
