The HCP 80 V2 came today.

I have the HiSky H-6 radio which appeared to be already programed with settings for the HCP80; there was a HCP80 model already in the radio.

However, the settings "HCP80" were for the old version. The new V2 settings were under the generic model "HCPV2" and were as follows:

HCP 80 with H-6 controller

Change swash mix from "3 Servos 120" to "Normal Heli"
Swash Mix values all need to be set to 100 (IMPORTANT "Swash Mix" has THREE Screens. The three screens change by the position of the Idle Up switch. Make sure all nine values are set to 100.

Servo Reversing:

1 R
2 N
3 N
4 N
5 N
6 N

Set Gyro to 100%

Motor power was an issue, like with my HCP60. I used some DeOxit on the motor connector and slightly bent the prongs.
I went through all the connectors and did the same.

Literally took 20 flights to figure out the swash type, servo reversing, swash mix and poor connectors. For example the swash mix was set with negative numbers, which made the servos function in reverse.

I can see if someone had a bad crash in those 20 flights, the thing would never get in the air in its proper working state.

Anyway, this one flies great!! Can't wait for the parts for my HCP60.

Similarities between the HCP 60 and HCP 80

Same main board* (Update: Looks Identical, but different part numbers)
Same main motor
Same tail motor and blade and skid
Same Battery and connector

I have flown the HCP80 v2 in my home office in both "6-axis" and "3-axis" modes. In the very limited flying space I have, the "6-axis" is the winner.

Also, I can't find any mention of it in any manual, but it does seem that IU2 automatically switches to "3-axis" mode.

I see a lot of threads about taking, like a 550 and making a 600 out of it by adding a longer boom, and bigger main blades.

That is one way to look at it. Though realize that the whole chassis, swash, head, mainshaft, servos, landing gear, servo layout, maingear/pinion are all different.

So, differences:
Canopy
Main Frame
Main Gears, pitch and size
Servos look the same but have greater throw
Main board looks identical but different part number
Swash
Head
Mainshaft (carbon fiber?)
Landing gear/battery holder
Main blades, grips, feathering shaft
Servo layout

I did just re-mount the gyro on two thin strips of Velcro. Nice and bouncy. The original mounting foam is way too rigid.

This improved flight dramatically. Occasionally the HCP 80 would dart out of control or the trims would seem to get messed up for no reason during flight. These symptoms were from the gyro getting messed up from head vibration.

After remounting the gyros in the HCP60 and HCP80 they fly great!!

I just flew the T-Rex 100 and wow, it really seems outdated. It takes special skills (that I learned) to fly the T-Rex 100 in small indoor places, because you need to compensate for the tendency to slide sideways when doing a yaw. The thing is, these special skills are not needed flying a full size heli. The HCP60 and HCP80, with the "Piro Compensation," yaw just like a full size heli, so the skills needed to fly them in small places indoors are more applicable to full size helis.
