Because I need to run 5.2 back to my futaba receiver and I have blown 2 8717's on straight lipo before. Playing it safe with a gryphon regulator.

I have JR 8917's on my 90, very fast and gobs of torque on 2s

8717's on 2S LiPo for 2 years now installed first in a Vel 50 and moved to one of our Vel 90's, running Specktrum 9 ch RX

+1 on the 8917's. Awesome servos. SAME gear train as 8717HV's but fifty bucks cheaper. Dont have the metal top case.
