Default GT5 update?

Hi all,

I've just been given a GT5 to try out. I thought I was getting a GT5.2; can the GT5 be converted to 5.2?

Should I be bothered about the difference? Was going to put it on a Protos500 beater.

Cheers, B

It can be updated man but you have to make sure which firmware your gyro is using and pick the update for that firmware. I think you can see it somewhere when its booting up.

Then of course you have to have the USB dongle and download the software.

The GT 5 flies awesome though and I never bothered updating my 5.1. When I had the 5 the update wasn't available. I love the FBL units, they look pretty hi tech with their digital screens lit up especially closer to dark.

Stay out of the menu with the wrench on it where calibration pages are. If you go in there make sure you don't change it. Its very easy to do scrolling around checking things out. The x,y and z axis are calibrated there. After screwing it up once and having to recalibrate it I always made sure I kept the numbers for the 3 axis written down somewhere afterwards. When I bought a used 5.1, someone else had screwed the x, y,z axis calibration up and I had to fix that before I could use it.

Its not impossible to recalibrate but pretty time consuming.

Thank you for this, much appreciated.

In the manual for the GT5.2 it mentions use with the Graupner HoTT system (as I have). I assume that to use this system with the GT5, that it treat the SUMD channel as an SBUS?

Looks like the GT5 won't work with the Graupner SUMD. But can be updated. I haven't got a dongle to update it with, but have heard that the Spartan dongle will work... I have a friend who has the Spartan datapod, which connects to his PC.

Will the spartan datapod be OK for updating the GT5 software to 5.2?

I've heard the Spartan USB dongle will work but haven't heard if the Data Pod will or not.
