James,

That was one of the best responses I have ever seen on the forums-one cannot argue with it!

We disagree on some things, but that was an absolutely great response sir!
Well I have no problem with the latiest 2.4 radios. I have many radio and I still use'em all.
I don't stick with one brand. Also I don't stick to just helicopter. I stick everything that make
me happy. It's all about enjoying rc hobby. I'm open to everything. Remember those u-control?
I still fly'em. Spektrum is not bad at all. We all got favorites and makes us happy. That what it
is all about what makes us happy.

I have a bunch of eflite stuff too. I just bought a used DX7 about a year and a half ago to use just for those. I think I paid $150.

For my good birds I use Futaba.

With my spektrum radio I must say. I need to preorder that new blade mcp x. It's going to be a big
hit.

James,

I fly everything I can get my hands on, but I standardize on radio equipment so that I can interchange things, if I have to.

And yes-I still remember U-Control (I used to be a demonstrator for Testers). I still have quite a bit of 1960's Cox, Wen-Mac, and Testors RTF airplanes in storage. I have not done that in years though (although it would be fun). My only remaining built up airplane would no longer be safe to fly (having been built with Ambroid cement in 1969).

I'd get the dx7 over the dx6i for helicopters.

IMO the feel of the dx7 is far better to the dx6 by a long shot.

One big thing i noticed with the dx6i is that you can't fine tune/level the swash on the high and low settings. The dx6 adjusts EPA on both sides , where the dx7 can be done individually.

The extra channel is perfect for any nitro heli.
BNF is a great thing

In reality all one needs is a dx7 , will cover 99% of heli applications.

I'm running a 11x right now with a dx7 backup

Ah Clem: Didn't want to take forum space to ask this, but does your screen name pay homage to the classic Firesign Theatre album? If so, I'd like to squeeze the wheeze in your honor! We're all Bozos on this bus!

Yea, I think I've decided against the Dx6i. I'm either going with the Dx7 replacement if they come out with one or the dx8. Radio looks pretty slick with all the bugs worked out. I've got 2-day shipping on my mCP x. May have to overnight a radio if they don't get the radios in stock until the mCP x comes in!

Yes, from the Spanish "Bosotros", the "B" and the "V" being the same.

Either they've changed this dramatically or your DX6i is faulty - I have two DX6i's and can definitely level swash top and bottom with both - ATV is only ever one end or the other - you hold the stick whichever end of travel you want to adjust.

DX8 I think defaults to alter both ends at once, but when you touch stick it changes one end only - I think DX7 might be the same.

For electric heli's I can't see anything functionally missing from the DX6i, I used my two very happily, only got the DX8 for more model memories, supposedly better sticks (I can't tell much difference), and the bigger screen (mostly wasted, as you can only adjust one function/channel at once anyway), the trainer modes are better on DX8 (and DX7 I think) as you have P-Link mode, so don't have to program slave TX - DX6i trainer works fine, but you need model setup identically on both radio's which is a pain for heli's.

This may be a dumb question, but have you checked your local hobby store?

If you don't care about DSMX and you want a DX7 right away you might find one in stock locally. I bought mine at the LHS and paid the same as online.

On the other hand. You can be patient and get the DX7 with DSMX and have a bit of future proofing.
