Default Tail pitch slider bearing question

Has anyone removed/replaced theirs on a v2 style tail? If so how?

Remove the two screws holding the slider to the arms. Remove tail rotor assembly by loosening the grub screw and wiggling it off. Remove the arm by removing the screw and lowering it gently. Pull the slider off.

I separated the plastic piece from the metal piece by super gently squeezing the metal with a pliers and turning.

If you're going to put back a two-piece slider, make sure the two pieces are very firmly attached to each other. Clean them thoroughly, use loctite, and make sure it locks.

But won't the oil collect dirt, and gunk up the slider?

I'd think polishing with pumice would do a nice job
getting it smooth glass, but I've yet to try it.

Yes, oil collects dirt and gunks things up. There's really nothing you can do about it but oil lightly and clean gunk when it builds up.
