Default logo 600SE : which motor to replace a Pyro 700-45 ?

hello,

I've a Logo 600SE with a Pyro 700-45 used on 12S 3300 mAh or 2400 lipos with smallest pinion available (11T if my memory is good)

I love medium rpm, the minimum for having a not so bad tail, but have the jive to drive a low percent to get it almost right. that is around 1400 - 1500 rpm for 690 blades.

I fly smooth 3d for 5'.

I would prefer to have a lower kv motor (I've switched the Pyro 700-45 in a 600SX airframe, with same lipos). I think 400kv would be a nice spot, or less maybe.

which motor could I use (less watts than Pyro would be ok) in a 600SE airframe ?

thanks for your advice.

Maybe HK 4035-400kv, but you won´t be able to use the counterbearing, since it has a 25mm mounting holes pattern...

Drop down to 10s. Everything will run cooler and you'll get longer flights.

I run a old style counter bearing on my 600SE with a 4035-450 12S 25mm. Depends what year of 600SE. It has lots of power for me being the Heli is so light.

You're ignoring the efficiency curve of the motor. Sometimes, more amps is better as it pushes the motor up the efficiency curve.

Yeah, somtimes. But only sometimes.
Good example: I've been running my 600 with 10s, Jive 80, 4035-560 and 12t pinion, a friend runs 12s, Jive 80, 4035-450 and 12t pinion on his. Both helis flew/fly with the exact same rpm of 2250, 14° collective and we have very similar flying styles, he loads his heli even more than I do.
While his heli worked well even with the stock Kontronik Jive cooler and never had any temperature issues, mine kept overheating even with the biggest cooler available, which has a damn fan on top (JCooler).
This is why I would always choose 12s over 10s when operating in the same throttle range.

I also thinks gear ratio would better in 10s for my rpm with a 450 kV motor, but I want to keep my 12s lipos packs (I can share with other helis, and too expensive to change)

I like low amperage that comes with 12s setup and help me fly with older lipos with enough power.

450kV motor is too high for me in 12s.

does there exist any 400 kv (or less) motor with 6mm long axis that could fit in my 6+ years old Logo 600SE ?

when I searched the net some years ago, I found something about Xera 400 or scorpion 330 kv or Hacker 400, but there were not easy to find and buy and I was not sure about there dimension to keep the counter bearing I have.

What about XNova 4035-400 or 4035-300.

I've been running an XERA 4035/3Y-400 and 12t pinion w/Helijive 120 on my SE since 2012.

Batts are 12s 4000mAh 25C Gens Ace (also from 2012)

It's a great combo that's still going strong.

The Xnova version should be the same or better (since changing over).

I'm not sure about the counter bearing as I don't run one.

I think this would be a awesome option for the Logo 600SE on 12 S. I run the 4035 450 with a 11 tooth pinion and it works great for me but if you want to run lower headspeed and a 12 tooth pinion. I have 4400 mah 6S batteries and they fit with the older style counter bearing.

I run 4400 6S batteries on mine. Before when my old 5000mah packs were new I used to be able to just fit them under the old style counter bearing.

Now with the new style counter bearing and taller main gear Mikado USA web site says max 4000 mah ? Is this right ?

I guess with the new chassis and the 690Sx it shows 4000-5000 mah.

From what I understand, the new "modified" chassis has been changed to allow packs to sit lower in the frame than they previously did.

That would help make up for lost space from the newer counter bearing and gear sitting lower.

I have my SE set up with the 11th pinion on 10s 4700 and the 700-45 and Jive 80HV. At the moment I have the throttle curve at 63 with a head speed of 1800. I'm getting 12 minute flight times and it fly just great. I'm having no temperature issues and it is baking hot where I am. I'm going to bring the throttle down to give me 1600 to try and bump up the flight time.

the xnova 400kv or 300kv sounds good, but a litlle expensive.
axis seems to be as long as pyro.

I also found 4030 series (in 350 kv), a bit less power (2500 W), but that should be enough for 620 - 690 main blades and soft 3d style.

http://www.espritmodel.com/xnova-403...ss-motors.aspx

has someone tried this motor on Logo 600(SE) ?

do you have solid tail at 1400-1600 rpm with Logo 600SE ?

I had trouble to get it fine on mine (beastx v3 + bls-251) until I speed up rotor above 1600 rpm by downsizing main blades (620 instead of 690)

most scorpion motors I've used (450-500 class) had great power, but ran very hot, with not so good efficiency and poor flight time, even at medium head speed.
I'd prefer to try another brand before scorpion.

Not all scorpions run hot.
My old HK-2221-10 on 4S was a living proof of that.
Cool running and gave long flight times but timings had to be set right ore it would run hot and angry.

The HKIII-5020-450 i have in my Logo 600 now allso is cool running.
Yes it get warm but not close to the 4035-500 i had in my Logo 500 and it was messured to 60 degreeC after flights in the summer.

With scorpions, if you go for a "hot" motor hot is what you get but going for a not that powerfull same size motor give you lower temps and longer flight times.

Try putting an I2 Tri-tail on it. I'm running one on my 600 at 1500rpm and the tail is solid. I tried it with the stock tail and it was just awful.
