That's just the design of the original grips/spindle. The spindle "butts up" against the grips bearing (with a washer in between). That is why I thought that something might not be "seating" properly causing the grip not sit straight on the shaft.

Anyway, if you don't want to abandon the Gaui, the new style grips are an easy upgrade. They are a more conventional design with the shaft extending through the bearings.

Thanks, are you saying the new style grips come with an upgraded/longer shaft? Or do you buy it separate?

Yes, the grips come with ONE shaft. EmpireRC, in their infinite wisdom, neglected to import the spindle shaft packs (203853), so if you want extra spindle shafts you will need to get them from overseas.

Nice, right before I read this, I ordered a couple things from Empire RC including the new grips. In the order comments, I made somewhat of a sarcastic comment regarding them not carrying the spindles separately-something in the order of: "Are you suggesting anytime the spindle gets bent, we should order a new set of blade grips to go with it. That would be ridic." Genius

The flybar head block is narrower then the FBL. They would be to long.

Yep, the FES spindles don't work. Tried them about 6 months ago.

aah, ok. I wonder if you could add a spacer to push the grips outward slightly : just thinking of how you could work with whats available now

Appreciate your concern. Ordered the updated grips/spindle from Empire RC couple days ago.
