Default Lectron 600 vs Hyperion 550...any thoughts ?

Hello all

Been looking to pick up some new packs for the 120 for this summer and while I wouldn't mind the price on some Nano Turnigy's, kinda tired of waiting for them to come back in stock.

Out side of that a shop no to far from me as the Hyperion's and Lectron's

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HYPERION-G3-...item53eac42682

http://www.ebay.com/itm/3x-Lectron-P...item2c643a6b22

So don't know which I should get.

Hyperion's seem to have a good rep from posts on the board, and with looking to get two orders, the $6.00 savings will pay for the shipping over the Lectrons.

But then the Lectrons' are "rated" at 600mAh and 35C, and given that I just got a Xtreme motor, I really would like to have all the power I can get.

But then again too, I have read a neg or two on the Lectrons.

At any rate, thought I would make a post and ask for others opinions.

Thank for any thoughts

PS, just to mention it in case anyone thinks about these, I have tried the Tigers and still even have a few but they do seem to have a short life span and even of the ones I got last year and even with a proper 50% storage over the winter, most are pretty shot now.

i've only used the stockers and the lectrons. the stockers come off the bird hot, the lectrons are cool. the lectrons have alot more punch and longer runtime.

yesterday in 90 degree heat was the first time a lectron came off my bird warm.

Lectrons are great. Cheaper than the stock batteries and I like the fit in the tray better. The longer wires are a plus too for use. Mine charge faster and run cooler., I just order the Hyperion batteries and should be here tomorrow .. I will let you know after that how good they are .

+1 Lectron Pro, 600. During hover practice I've gone 9 minutes.

Yeah jaybird, that would be nice.

Actually just went through all my packs and for sure, virtually all my Tigers are shot.

Last year I 50% them down for storage but also I'll admit, I was flying the helo off a LP5DMS radio with no timer and running them till LVC.

Also for quite a bit of time, I was charging them on the E-Flight Celectra charger and would end up leaving the pack in it for way to long so even with the 50% charge, they have taken some abuse.

But I had those and also two Pro-Tec packs from late last year and those still rock so I know the helo motor are all OK, only thing is, their like $10.00 a pop.

Also now I have a Dx7s with a timer so I won't fly them to long, as well have my PowerLab 8 setup for charging them.

IN relation to the PL8, seeing as those Pro-Tech's are 550 and 25C, and the Hyperion's are the same, might be good to have all same same as the charger is one that has to be set per a specific charge rate.

So unless there is a big performance change as they have a good rep, I think I might go with the Hyperion's.

So taking a look at the larger photo of those batteries they say a 2c charge rate on the label.

I was under the impression you charge at .6 if its a 600mAh. Is this saying a 2.0 charge rate?

What do you charge with?

What they mean by 2c is 2x the standard rate. On a 600 mah battery 1c would be .6 and 2c would be 1.2.. however, even though the battery is rated for a 2c rate you will shorten the life by using more than 1c. ANY lipo battery will give up some life for the faster charge rate. People who race or compete otherwise need the faster rate to charge their batteries more quickly between races, so long life is not an issue with them. Most flyers are not in a time frame or have more batteries to use so they generally look for more life. A short battery life comes when you least expect it, when you are at max altitude. It is not the crash...it is the sudden stop that causes problems.
