Default getting used to the Flashed xp7a

never flew a heli in governer mode. it seems like the heli flies like a "yo-yo" now. does that make sense? it seems like theres a little delay to get the head speed back up. my settings are all default. not flying one before im not sure how it is suppose to act.

i also had to turn my d/r down to 60% with +30 expo cause it was way to quick.

make sure your throttle curve is flat, the flashed ESC responds much slower to throttle changes and will give you that yo-yo effect if you try to fly in normal mode rather than idle up.

Yeah, I am getting the "Yo-yo" effect also. Makes some manoeuvres very unpredictable with the little HS blast here and there. Think I need to play with the gain and read that huge blheli thread. I am running a hp05s, 120/plant and Hyperion 550. Was terrible with 7mm tail and 300mah batteries that I like to run! My curves are flat 70% and 100%

Make your throttle curve flat in the idle up modes..

I have idle up 1 at 65% power, and IU2 at 100% power. Works well.

Only use normal mode to start/stop the blades.

I find flat 70 works pretty well with the HP05, but I got less surging by setting p-gain to 1.5 rather than the standard 1.0.

at 100% you're getting no governing at all, it should fly like a regular XP7a.

yeah, thats why I have 100%. For when I get to annoyed with the surge. Hey Jabu, for me 65% was not good, 70% was much better. 80% got me max headspeed same as 100%. Lots of people are liking the gov, I think we need to tweak settings.

I never have yo-yo effect with governor mode on my hp05s or hp07 with flat throttle curve anything from 30% to 80% (hp07 maxes out at about 82%). Try governor arm mode so that ESC ignores throttle signal while flying just so you can rule out a throttle signal issue.

Only if they did it wrong.

Again, the 1st post of the stickied thread with its attachment files have everything you need to know to run in arm mode correctly. To repeat here for easier reference, I'd say it's not difficult at all. The main difference is you need to set up throttle curves differently. Set the highest endpoint on normal mode throttle curve to the throttle value corresponding to your target headspeed. Set up idle-up throttle curve to suit proper tail mix. Start off with flat 100% and fiddle with it later. The only difference in arming sequence is you use normal mode and then full throttle stick up, instead of TH off/on/off switch.

Tried arm mode, still yoyo. Turned up P-gain, now it is flyable! Will try lowering I-Gain tomorrow to see if that helps.

P-gain 1.5 as Naito suggested. I read somewhere in the blheli thread that lowering the I-gain also helped for someone. Have not tried it yet though

Can do it from the tx, there's a PDF linked in the main blheli thread first post. I'm finding on 9t pinion with the hp05, p-gain at 1.5 worked best. With 8t pinion, I can't decide yet what works best but I think I'm flying with it either at 1 or the first step less than 1.
