Default Kontronik goes boom

Well I just can't believe it got the new 600 all set up test flew it in the front yard and everything seemed perfect. Pack up go to the field all excited to fly, plug in the battery and boom darn cap lets loose. Any one ever had this happen?
Bad thing is we have had at least 5 Castles burn up in the last month and I said no way I don't care how much the Kontronik cost I am not going to worry about an esc burning up but it did anyway.

That Sucks but goes to show that all of them are prone to failure. Even The all mighty Kontronik..

Yep jive 80HV. I got a hold of Ready Heli this morning and within the hour had an RMA # and it is on its way back. I hope this is an isolated incident because I would really like to fly this thing.

Great customer service from Ready Heli so far, I have never needed there service in the past but it is nice to know when you need it they respond.

+1 I've ordered from them for years and the service is great overall.

Sorry to hear about your ESC. I'm still waiting for my ICE2 80 to show up from Castle; running a HV70 in the meantime.

Did the Kontronik actually catch fire or did it just pop the cap?

Just popped a cap no harm to anything. Ready Heli received it this morning and shipped the new on to me within hours, it just doesn't get any better than that when you have a problem and it is resolved as fast as this was.

I am going to be a bit nervous plugging in the batteries for the second flight though.

Burnt up is a relative term with electronics.
If an electronic component melts or pops,it's burnt up or burnt out.

Doesn't always mean open flames and the OP was not being dishonest.

His ESC is burnt out.

You just can't bear to see anything bad about your CC's can you? So you have to make up definitions to try and denigrate anyone that doesn't like them. Why don't you try using actual statistics sometime instead of using a campaign of innuendo and half truths.

You were implying the OP was being dishonest and he wasn't.
Has nothing to do with CC or Kontronik.

By the way...I don't even own an electric heli except an MCP X.

I don't care about CC or Kon.
I just get a kick out of the lies people spread about both.
