The only reason it appeals to me at all is this truck is turn-key and we've been trying to break a friends but can't. It's soooo durable and can do wheelies at 80mph. Stock

It's pretty much known as the only real option for those traits.

Sad part... Friend is moving out of town. Can't play with his toy any more

I guess resale is decent should I lose interest in it.
Which site are you thinking of buying one from? All the brushless ones come with NIMH batteries

Not sure how much you save at Tower, but it's $600 from here

It's actually $899, but I can't tell if it's Aus or US $$$$.

Tower's gonna be my best bet I think.

I've still got all of my car/trucks/buggies from the late 90's. We had 2 outdoor dirt tracks for 4wd and 2 wd trucks and buggies. I had a 95'x35 carpet oval in my warehouse for racing Bolink Legends and we raced asphalt stuff on an abandoned runway.
We used to have a blast drinking beer and racing.
I've got to learn to sell my stuff when I slack off of it while it still has value. I just never do it, I have planes stored everywhere and probably 25 Futaba FM transmitters.kind of like a junkie/hoarder

To me, 1 R/C car is boring, you need at least 2 and then you can race!

Are your kids old enough for R/C cars Overtemp? I vote on getting two or three of 1/10 stadium trucks and race them at the BMX track, it will also count as quality time with the kids and earn bonus points from the wife

Not old enough to race those, though I was thinking of getting them smaller ones. They are going on 5 and 7. And, I'd only ever own 1 for myself. I'm the opposite... I keeps a streamlined operation. 2 planes (operational... kept the 1st one I built too), 2 helis, and MAYBE 1 car. We'll see. I guess resale is pretty good on these, so I could bash it for a year and lose a couple hundred bucks. Tempting.

Yeah the 7 year old will be pretty good pretty quickly. Maybe try setup a trainer mode for the 5 year old?

Only problem with the 7 year old... she's blind, well, legally anyway. Don't think high speed large distance RC stuff is for her. The 5-yo boy, though, I see him wanting to drive in a year or two.

I am actually building a home track with drivers stand and all right now, just need the wheelchair lift so I can get up there and stop giving the advantage to my buddies.

We run 1/8 electric buggy, almost indestructible and flat out awesome and 1/10 Short Course.
The Traxxas your looking at is pretty good for bootin' around. Good parts support and decent resale but a racer it is not.
The Castle setup in car stuff is petty good acually, never seen a fire (yet) so that's a plus.

I've been into cars for 15+ years and put them down all together when I got into heli's 3yrs ago. Now I have a place for both.
It's nice to run some laps and not worry about crashing, hell that's part of the fun. Seeing a buggy cart-wheeling at 40mph only to land on it's wheels and carry on is pretty cool.

If you can maybe look for a car/truck you can share heli packs with.
For just beating around and go anywhere the 1/10 Revo would be a good choice.
For something a little more serious and race worthy I like 1/8 eBuggy.
Best handling and durability, easier to drive fast than a monster truck too.
Check some out here.

These aren't turn key and you'll need to buy separate components(Tx,Servo,ESC/Motor Combo), expect to be $1000+ all said and done.

I bought my little sister a slot car set (Aurora AFX) when she was 5, she loved it. She is obsessive with perfection, so just loved running lap after lap without crashing. I hope I'm not being presumptuous, but this would be great for your daughter, she could use her hearing to drive the car right?

Ah no worries... I probably shouldn't even have mentioned that. I don't know if she'd really be all that interested... girl you know. She is obsessed with perfection, loves to read (large print, iPad, etc...), and loves her girly stuff.

Funny story... she had a rough couple first years and had to have a surgery at 15 months old before she could sit up, much less crawl or walk. After the surgery she learned to crawl quickly so we started working on standing. She'd always get this smirk on her face and fall. We caught her in her room by herself once... she placed pillows from the couches all around her bed and was working on standing by herself. Never saw that a second time. One day she came walking, almost running, out of her room and paraded around the house for 4 hours. Never saw her crawl again. How's that for perfectionist?

I might try a slot car track of some sort for them some day. When I was a kid a guy in my church worked for a toy company and had a huge track in his basement. A big group of us used to race all the time. Was fast, furious, and fun!!!

Haha, better watch out if you do get a track, sounds like she might get some secret practice in and kick your ass
