What did you do with your Blade 500x / 500 3D today?

Sighhh.. nope.. Another day of "Life" got in the way.. Lol. She is ready though. Once of these days it's going to happen again. So busy lately and the only thing on my mind is releasing some stress with some flights.

With main gears available again and six on the way from HH, i know I can fly my two 500X for a couple more years.

So... pulled them out of the closet, serviced and repaired, set up on Spirit FBL and heading out to fly this weekend.

No, keep it FB. Not worth the trouble and expense converting an orphan bird, plus it’s actually kind of cool to have a FB heli.

500 3D was my first “big” heli. Converted both of mine, but sometimes wish I had kept one FB

I converted mine and happy I did, wouldn't change my mind if I could do it again but tropical is right.. it is an obsolete, discontinued bird at this point and an awesome flying FB heli is pretty cool. My 3D was also my first big heli and loved it both 3d and FBL.

Tend to agree here, Going to keep it a FB bird. This is my also my first and only big heli, I have a ton of parts for her, BTW, did you get your main gears yet, there now available on the Horizon Hobby site for a limited time. I grabbed 6 packs. Maybe I will look for a used 500x, I'm sure there are some around.

Got my gears last week. I can now fly her again and im very happy about that. Funny you mention picking up a 500x, there is one for sale (which is rare!) right now on rcgroups!

Field opened this past week end and got the 500X out for a flight.

Enjoyed some 500X flying in during our funfly. Have a bit of tail wag, but it flies good. Now have 44 flights on it.

I've been averaging half dozen packs per week for the last couple of months. It's now my beater for practicing aerobatics/big air moves.

First ever outside loop this past Sunday

Ironic thing is I worked hard to find main gears, then lobbied Horizon, and when they did a last run, bought 8 of them. Now I can't seem to crash!

Haha! Congrats on the first loop! It's exhilarating to say the least. My first pack every time I fly, my fingers always shake like crazy so no loops until at least the second pack when my nerves are settled. Lol!

Converted my first “big” heli, 5003D, to 500X a few years ago, making it also my first FB heli.

Now for no good reason except nostalgia, I’m going to un-convert it.

Luckily I saved the original FB head. Bought a new old stock green fiberglass canopy, the last pair of green FB paddles on eBay, and still have a NIB set of the original Revo FB blades. Have choice of like-new GY401 or Spartan gyro, then either all black or all white skids/horizontal fin/vertical fin. It should look nice.

I’ll fly it (carefully) a few times, but mostly leave it on display in a place of honor. Seems fitting (if a bit nerdy) since that heli taught me a lot and provided untold hours of aggravation interrupted by minutes of sheer joy

I have two 500 3d's and want to convert at least one to FBL. Neither one has been crashed so all components are good. Already have a spare beastx.

Appreciate any good advice.

Does anyone know if the 500X landing skid would compatible (even with mods or new holes) with the old 500? too many tail strikes on my bird

Yes. Same part #, just 3D marketed are white and X marketed, are black. I used the X on my 3D, because I wanted black but both fit without mods or anything.

I have align 500x landing gear on my heli, just have to dremmel out the holes a little to fit. Gives the heli nice raked look that raises the tail up. Also modded a goblin 500 sport tail fin that helps keeps the tail blades off the pavement.
