Default Anybody running Turnigy Nano-Techs

Anybody running Nanotechs in a Protos with stock YGE and Scorpion setup? I have read some people have had problems with them on certain ESCs and was curious if the YGE is one of them. I would prefer to get the Gens Ace, but I am getting sick of waiting on them to come in stock. I have had good luck with nanotechs in the past on my Gaui 255 and Trex 450 Pro.

These (Gens Ace 6S 2500mah 25C) are a much better fit for the non-stretched Protos. And they are in stock.

I was, but have now given up on the bigger Nanotechs (still use 3S on my 450s) - they seemed to lose power after about 40 flights - Gens Ace still going strong after 55

I was looking at those, but I have both a stretched and non stretched. I would like to get 2600mah so i can use it in both. My Hyperion 2600mah fit in my non stretched Protos with the canopy mounts in stock position, so I would rather not go any smaller. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Stay away from Nanopuffers.

Mine puffed extremely bad after about 15 flights, and never run them below 20%, properly broke them in, etc.

They are terrible. The 2x 6S 2650 I have are aweful, and the 3S 2200MAh I have is not better.

I own 7 brands of batteries and they are by far the worst.

Just hovering at 85% flat throttle, YGE+880Kv, 15t pinion, they trigger my 21.6v alarm on my telemetry with a fresh pack..... My Gens Ace take 4 mins to do the same.

I'll never buy Nanopuffers again. Regular Turnigy are ok, but Gens Ace are WAY better.

I bought 4 of the genace 2200's, and they work great with my 500. Still breaking them in now, but 3 minutes of sport flying with a governed head speed of 2750 and they all come down around the 3.8 mark. They really do have some punch behind them. By far the best batteries I've owned so far.

I have a 35c 2650 nanotech doing just fine with over 50 cycles. Not puffing at all. The 2650 30c blue lipo I use is puffing a bit with 40 cycles. Its all about how you treat them IMHO. I've slowly ratcheted down my flight times from 7 minutes to only 6 minutes now to get the same ending voltage of 22.4 to 22.6v and pack temps of around 85F.

Not really.

The nanopuffers were brand new and never held their voltage enough to prevent my voltage alarm (telemetry) from going off hovering.

You say you have 7-8 minutes of flight time, what headspeed are you running? I can get 4m45s and the batteries are at 20% (Gens Ace) with 2850 Headspeed governor store. Aggressive sport and mild 3d.

I only got 7 minutes when the packs were new after about 8 break in cycles. Now getting 6 minutes and I do sport flying with a 14t pinion and 60 to 80% throttle. Dont use the governor at all and the freewheel function is on.

I bet having my belt a bit looser than you crazy 3d pilots has alot to do with the longer flight times too.

No clue what my headspeed is. Maybe I'll do a video and hover next to my camera. Then I can use a doppler program to figure head speed.

60% on 14t is really slow. Explains the 8 minutes!

Does anyone run the nano puffers with 15t and 85% throttle or above?

I can't even HOVER with them...... After 2 mins, the batts are at 20%!

It's really the low HS that allows you to fly that long. Also, you probably don't throw it around much with aggresive collective moves. That's probably also why the nanopuffs are working for you.

I'm actually surprised it does not wobble with an HS that low (I'm guessing 1700-2100). I once tried to see how low I can go with the HS before it becomes unstable and got down to 2200 - any lower and the head had the distinctive low HS wobbles.

Currently flying Gens Ace 2600 6s 25C, 15T pinion HS=2600RPM gov, flight time 5.5 min (timer set to 5 min). Flying aggresive aerobatics and mild/flowing 3D moves (not smack): flips, rolls, funnels, hurricanes, tick tocks, half-piroflips.

This video I was trying to film friends with aircrafts. The camera was mounted to the underside of the front of the heli. No canopy. Nearly 8 minutes flight and put in 2100 mAh. HS at 1800. No wobbles. At the end of the flight you see the reflection of the blades on the gound appear stationary. 30fps camera so as I said HS 1800. When you hear more than 4:30 -5:0 it's usually people not pushing the heli. Hence the nanopuffs work.

I fly NanoTech 2650 6s 45/90c on my all stock plastic Protos. At first they worked great. No problems all through the winter (got the heli on Black Friday). Now They puff like crazy and get very hot, but my motor also comes down scorching hot lately, and has even puffed my Hyperion 2600 pack.

I'm pretty sure something is wrong with my heli. I will probably tear down and check motor bearings before flying any more. I tried changing to smaller pinion, which didn't help, then went back to stock gear and upped the throttle curve to straight 100%, Tri-flow on all bearings, and loosened belt tension. Still hot, still puffing packs, now I'm about to rip my hair out. Everything spins very smooth and without slop. Any ideas?

So far, I think the packs havent been completely ruined. As they cool, the swelling goes down and they look normal again.

Edit: Oh yeah, I can fly mine for about 4 min 30 seconds on all of my packs and have a tad over 20% remaining.

check belt tension, check motor bearings, well, all bearings.

Did you lubricate them on a regular basis?

I loosened the belt. Any looser, and it'll start skipping teeth. I lubed on a somewhat regular basis, but I worry that the thick oil I was using before may not have been soaking down into the bearings, and may have been just getting slung away on first spool up. I switched to Tri-flow and lubed everything really well, but it may have been too late.

The only way I know to check bearings is to spin them and try to wiggle them and try to put a little stress on them in different directions to see if they show signs of slop, or binding. So far all appear to be smooth and tight, but I haven't had the motor out. It's kinda bumming me out, but theres got to be something. The motor will be the next thing I check. It spins fine on the heli, but I may remove it and try to disassemble it and check the motor bearings individually. IDK, I'll figure something out.
