Default Needs some 4#3b advice from some knowledgable modders

Hi there,

After burning my stock brushless on my 4#3B, I picked up the HP03S and ESC as well as a Brushless tail combo.

After installing HP03S and ESC, I was unable to gain lift from the motor, I suspected it's something to do with this ESC... But I continued and installed the BL tail to see if that helped. It has not...

- I've wired the ESC's with and without a Y-harness to the Batt
- I've checked for binding at the fly wheel
- I've upgraded to and rx2406B

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

The HP03 is a tail motor - same as I have on my 4G3. I doubt it is powerful enough to be a main motor

dandman:
The HP03S should be fine,it's a main motor...it's the HP03T that's for the tail. From your photo it looks like you have the S in the main motor slot so that shouldn't be a problem.

When you say that you're unable to gain lift do you mean that the motor just isn't spinning fast enough or something else?
I assume you've already tried several different freshly charged batteries, yup?
Checked that your paddles aren't twisted and that you have neutral pitch?

Have you checked that the blades are spinning the right way...clockwise,when viewed from above? Try holding the heli and give it some throttle...you'll soon know whether it's trying to pull up or push down.It sounds obvious I know but I have reversed the motor connections by accident once or twice when rebuilding and then wondered why I couldn't take off:o

I can't see how you have it all wired up from your photo but I'm running the HP03T tail upgrade along with the stock BL motor and this is how I've wired mine...no problems so far but I don't use the Y connector,I've soldered the female wires from both ESCs onto a single Deans:

Really I didn't know there were two. Apologies dandman for the incorrect info, and thanks dropzero for the correction

No problem Dusty, actually, looking at this little motor, I started to wonder a bit myself..

Dropzero, I have a similar wiring diagram as to what you described, except, I have a free male plug on my Main ESC and a free female on my 4in1.

I've re-attached the Y-harness as I suspect it should appear.

Yes, I've tried several batt's ... And have the rotors spinning in the correct direction.

My problem seems to be a lack of power which results in a low rotor speed.

Hey Dan,I can't quite see from your pic but it looks like you have one of the AeoRC Main ESCs...is that correct? Have you tried hooking up the batt/tail esc/main esc in different combinations or have you only tried using the Y adapter?

If you could either take a pic of both ESCs off the heli or tell me exactly what connectors you have on both then that might help,it's a little difficult to see exactly what's going on

Thanks for your effort Dropzero,

I've included two images, one is a diagram of my wiring, the second of the ESCs.

They were purchased from Chinesejade, about the sixth down in the list:
http://www.chinesejade.com/walkera43UpGrade.htm

I have tried connecting the battery in different ways, but not much else at this point. It should be noted that the tail wires are not sodered at this point, I've meshed the wires and taped them together as a temp fix and I'm not sure if it's a problem.

Cheers,

Dan

Apparently you should be able to connect this combo directly into the 4in1 and it should provide enough lift for the heli.
If it doesn't, I would email Terence and let him know about it, see what solution he comes up with. He is quite good with replying and service.
Hope this helps.

Looks like your escs are mixed up, the one you have for the tail is a main motor esc, the one you have for the main motor is a tail esc - just swap them round

Dan,
to be safe I'd shoot Terence at ChineseJade an email and ask him...he's usualy pretty quick and very helpful in sorting out any problems.

This is an alternative setup that you might like to try(at your own risk,of course):

Hope you get it sorted soon
