Default how do i fig out how many poles in my electric motor

I am a newbie to the hobbie now for just a few months...please need help , iresearched and got ALOT of conflicting info on the web...I have a thunder tiger 550 and recently installed the new castle phoenix ice2 hv 80...I need to somehow fig out my poles to properly tune speed control to motor...I have a (crappy) stock ,ace ripper 1150kv OBL44-30H brushless outrunner motor.. it has 12 copper wraps & 8 outer magnets connected to the outer can... the can does 24 clicks if I fully rotate the can 360 degrees...please help

On the stuff I have researched, magnets = poles

There are few exotic exceptions, but 99% is poles = magnets

Yes that motor is 8 pole.
