Default How to lengthen ESC cable or servo cable?

I'm comfortable making servo cables and the ESC throttle cable shorter. I have the right tools and connectors to do so and at least a little experience doing it. But I sometimes find that the hardwired throttle/BEC cable on an ESC is just a couple inches shorter than I want to make a nice wiring run.

How do the experts go about extending these without using a servo extension? I could cut and solder somewhere along the span, but that would leave a not-so-neat and not-so-flexible spot somewhere. Any other ideas?

Normally, I would just make up a servo extension lead but if I really had to, I would solder in a new length of cable.

Do you mean open up the servo and swap out the lead? That's what I'm thinking would end up with the neatest result.

I was mainly on about the ESC.

Yes,I open them up and replace the leads if I have to, but I have done the same for servos as well.... but only if they are easy enough to get into to !
