My new helical gears
I made the swap the other day to the new helical gears. I noted a perfect fit of the main gear to the autorotation hub. The new pinion has a hub which still leaves plenty of space for the main gear to run in the central area of the toothg-cut area with room to spare.
I didn't think my bird was noisy at all. Now I realize by comparison it was! WOW are the new gears quiet running. At least on my machine, it is extremely smooth and quiet, and only the sound of motor and blades remaining.

Does the pinion have a ridge on top to capture the inner race of the counter bearing or are shims required?

Tell you what after My last crash I changed 3 things. I went to the helical cut gear changed to the full size siverline vbar and went to 115 tail blades. Since the change this bird is totally different I love how quiet it is, My tail gain so far I've increased 10 points (not sure why up considering I went to bigger blades which I Would think that I would have to go down in gain) Also it seems I have less vibration error's. Before it was nothing to get 20 raised vibration errors and 2 or 3 extreme vibration errors. the last log I pulled had 4 raised vibration error's in it .The heli is super quiet and I love it.

No ridge, shim if you like. I have tried with shim and gear against bearing and shim(just in case) and clearance between gear and bearing. Going to leave the clearance I think, bearing seems to stay cooler.

I was mainly thinking about thrust loads on the motor. If the pinion is pressed up against the bearing with a shim, it would eliminate those loads. That's the one thing I've always been concerned about with regard to helical gears.
