Default Skookum tic tocs ???

I am using a red 540 skookum in my gauix7. I position my skookum at the front just under esc. My heli specs are:

1. rjx servos or servo kings for cyclics
2. Futaba 276 servo tail.
3. Gryphon regulator, 7.4 v voltage.
4. Curtis youngblood blade
5. Motor scorpion 4530 500 kv and pinion 11t
6. Picth 12.3 and cylcic 8
7. Software is still older version

My rpm is 2050 idle 1 and 2130 idle 2.

My gauix7 flies nice when i do basic maneuvers ( piros, flips, ff). But when it comes to elevator and aileron tic tocs, my gauix7 feels like 450. My gauix7 never feels locked no matter how i adjust. I follow those pro setups in skookum webstie, still does not help. I also did fine tuning still does not help

I fell my gauix7 a bit woblle and the tail also a bit wag during aileron and elevator tictocs.
What is wrong with my setup??

Is it my gyro location? Is it my cheAp rjx servo or servo king?

Or is it skookum ?

I need help.

=] I think you need to be working towards V4, with V4.05 on the way if you want to wait, should be out shortly....

I have been having a similar problem but I thnk I had a breakthrough today, i'm flying a gaui x4II and its flawless almost everywhere except fot elevator tic toc, I can see the tail making a figure eight while transitioning and it required a lot of correction to keep it in place, I tried adjusting all sorts of gains to stop it and it never got any better, I thought it might be the gov gain that was messing with the tail but that seemed to make it worse,
my normal routine for getting the tail gain right is to fly a very fast and tight funnel , the tail will buzz if its too high, not sure what happens when its too low but I usually turn it up till I get a buzz then back it off a little, I tried this yesterday and all was good but tic tocs still wandered, during my flying I did a very long tail slide into some really fast backward circuits and I heard a buzz, I tried it again with a full throttle backward hurricane and the buzz was there again so I started to turn my rudder gain down, I went down 20 points in my transmitter before the buzz stopped and when I tried tic tock the tail was pretty solid, in fact I was over correcting trying to keep it straight when I didn't need to. I had tried everything that I could think of and asked about on here to calm my tail but it seemed it was something basic, this may not be your problem but what i'm trying to say is that maybe the answer is more simple than you think

I'm loving how tic tocs feel with the pitch boost feature in 4.0 !

My helis are all flying amazingly well with 4.0.

What's coming in 4.05 ????????

The pitch boost is a great feature that really helps with tictocs, but my tictocs feel a lot sloppier on 4.0 than they did on the last version. I'm hoping 4.05 fixes that.

If it's coming out soon then I look forward to trying it out sometime next year.

I have the same heli and gyro. I think you placed the gyro in a not so optimal place close to the motor and gear which vibes.
The normal place is between the frames in the back - upside down. Its a PITA to wire but that's the correct place...

You didn't put your setup here so its hard to help but please read my post here (#11):
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...51#post6068751

I believe it will give you better behavior. my cyclic setup on my X7 is:

Gain around 45.
Bell/Rate 75/300
Hiller Decay 170
Acceleration 50

But I'm going to fine tune it soon according to what i have learned lately

Ohh and please post a log file or a full setup file - we can find many things checking those

Maybe sloppy is what mine needed? Mine I struggled with all summer came alive the first day I flew 4.0, lost all my off angular movements and I flew at an entirely different level. So sim like. Like all the past upgrades they will hit when they finally hit. And I will again wait a few weeks, then give them a try if it all looks good with the others before me.

Ok guys. I upgraded mine to 4.0 software and i tested.

My heli flies more locked on cyclic, which are improved from previous version. Good upgrade.

The tic tocs is also improves, better than previous version. It is better, but not really impressive.

Skookkummm. Hmmm... Please catch up.

I post my data setting later.

Skookum is the best tic toc machine there is. Just a meter of tuning.
Post your log or setup file and we will get you sorted out.

Don't post a pic - either a flight log file or SAVE your setup under file menu in the GUI.
To upload it here press quick reply, then press the "go advanced" below the message frame and you will have "manage attachments" below.

If Helifreak doesn't let you upload you need to rename the file's extension to *.TXT

I'll +1 that. It's not just his opinion. V4 is amazing. But like any other FBL, it still needs to be tuned right

I'm rained out until next week anyway.

I'm breaking in some new packs on my PL8's right now. I'll be ready

=] V4 was a huge leap for SK in terms of cutting edge performance, this was evident in early testing days. from what I can tell V4.05 testing is aimed at gps performance and elevator control loops, nailing it further.....

My goblin 500 after the update I had to drop my head gain a lot to get it locked in again for aileron and elevator tic tocs.

Previously was at 53 and now it's at 35 to get them really locked in. I raised it back up to 40 on my last flight as I thought 35 might be alittle too low.

It might be just me, but I had to change a lot of parameters to feel like I like it. For me it is impossible that you like the 3.43, update and like the 4.0 without changing a lot of parameters.
In my opinion you need to raise the bell gain and hiller decay otherwise the tic tocs are sloppy.
My setup is.
Speed : 300deg/s
Bell gain : 95
Cyclic accel : 30-35
Hiller decay : 120
No pitch boost.
Gain 55
On my radio I have 18% expo to calm it down a bit.
These are for hard 3D with a trex 700 dfc hv with helix blades. It took me. Time to get those params. They are almost perfect for me. I still need to fine tune the hiller decay and cyclic accel but I am almost there. When I am done with the setup I will compare the v4 to the v3.43. I have two identical Helis, one updated and one on 3.43.
