Default motor hunting

Hi

I had this problem when coming in, ie low engine and the engine sounds like it is hunting. I then purchased a governor and it is still doing it.

It is a CSM20 Revlock. People hav said that it is the gain. I have tried a different faster servo and played with the gains, still does it.

Could it be the clutch slipping (which is relatively new) or the one-way bearing (which is about 5 years old).

It is almost finished being upgraded to a Raptor 50v2 from a Raptor 30v1. The complete head and the canopy is still to be upgraded.

With this problem, the tail feels a little loose, but I am assuming that it is because of the engine slipping.

Also, I am only using 4.8V so I could get the servos to go faster by putting in a 3-1 regulator.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Richard

Sounds like a tuning problem. A governor is not going to solve that, you need to get it right with the governor disabled. Moreover, any governor will tend to mask tuning problems.

Not sure if I understand you right but when you say "when I am coming in" do you mean on descending on approach from forward flight to a hover? If so then it is quite common to get hunting. The engine is at low throttle, and the clutch is close to being disengaged. Could even be the one way bearing on the main gear being locked up. Just because its old doesn't mean its bad though. My one way is nearly five years old and is better than ever.

Going up to 6V won't cure it and you don't really need a fast servo on the throttle. Same as the collective is plenty fast enough. It'll be quick anyway because the carb is virtually no load on the servo.

I would check through the tuning, look at fuel hoses (especially the clunk line)
