YGE 320 HV ESC

Christmas came early today. Got my new speeder ESC - 320A should be enough...

It will power a Croco 4535 "speed" (4+3 YY) along side a WR Super BEC.



Kinda makes the Jive 120 look tiny:

Yes - it's a 4+3 YY 1.8 @ 615 KV.
It seems the YGE spins the motor faster than the Jive, so will go for a 14T pinion on this.

The YGE320HV is so far only made to order. Not sure if there are enough crazy people around to warrant a real production...

Sweet stuff to look at but hey guys those are machine breakers, just no way you can use all that power in a TDR! I find with my 4035 handwind in 1.32 that it's already borderline for 3d work. But i guess for speed runs at 18 degrees you'll be ok.
Man but that motor looks good will have to do one someday!

The motor above is specifically developed for speedflying. It won't do 3D very well. My 4530 Speed Croco so far was able to pull quite a bit too, and I have never stripped a gear because of motor power. Remember there is not a lot of stop-go in speedflying - the motor just oinks away fairly consistently. The key is to gradually increase the load.

Even my current 4535 Croco 3D motor has not (yet) stripped gears, but then again it takes me about 4-5 flights getting the gear mesh just right.

I think the production 4535LE will be a 3D motor, but not sure.

These motors will eat all they can, so good lipos is a must.

Good idea... I would share my JLogs and have quit a lot of what's under the hood.
About gears... I'm exchanging my gears right now. First stage looks okay. Second stage has some terrible marks which happened at a single cyclic stick move. Bigger problem is the head. The outer (hard) damper breaks into several pieces if you don't fly carefully.

No -one better than you to do the sticky klaus please post your data. It's obvious these motors are too powerful for anything but speed flying. Personally i think the limit for 3d is something in the pyro black edition, 4525, range. I'm gonna handwind a pyro in 1.32mm yy which should come out ahead of the black edition and will see how that goes.
Where these powerful motors seem to get in a zone of their own is low headspeed 3d.
But one has to have sensitive fingers when upping the headspeeds.
Klaus please post a video of your flying i must see how you wear out dampers in couple of flights!
What is your headspeed and what governor. I'm sure gov settings less agressive will benefit the gears to a large extent. Dampers, maybe we should make you some magnetic dampers that cant wear out!
Edvard apart from the heatsink what do you do to keep temps down or is a hole in the canopy enough at speed? Also what pitch and headspeed youre gonna run on this machine?

It will run the usual setup as my other speed TDRs - about 2300 rpm and 18º pitch. Don't really have a problem with heat as the flights are only about 2 minutes each.

The logs for speeding with my 4530 show averages of about 180-200A and spikes at around 260-290A. So far the Jive 120 has been doing OK at this, but would like the extra peace of mind of the 320A rating

Spill the beans roughly how much? over $700US? does it have phase sens output and what does it weigh compared to jive?
I would like to see it mounted, i guess you will solder straight to motor?

I think the diabolo may handle power better, pity grips and shafts are stiill small.

Klaus i think the vbar gov and your fngers are the problem.

Wow... this is cool.... I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE overkill.... (mostly cause I can't fly 3D anyway, so I don't break anything) That would be so flipping cool. I really need to start upping my flying skills, I don't need 3D for some speed runs....

As a side note, can you only order those power croco motors overseas? And, does anyone happen to know if they ship to US?
