Default Rate gyro refuses to initialize...

I have this pre-owned King 2 that was set up with the tail/rudder servo arm pointing downwards when centered (on the stock King 2, this servo arm points up when centered). It came with a Futaba 6EXHP TX where the Rudder channel (4) was selected to "Reversed" - in order for the tail rotor pitch to function in the correct sense.

I've recently switched to a Futaba 9CHP (FF9) and programmed it to operate with the King 2. Surprisingly, the stock rate gyro is unable to initialize (red LED keeps on blinking) with the Channel 4 in "Reverse". It will only do so when Channel 4 is switched to "Normal", but then the tail rotor pitch is reversed!!!

Of course, the obvious solution is to re-mount the tail servo arm following the stock config, but why should I do that when it worked fine previously?

I can't figure out what's wrong here, and hope some King 2 'gurus' out there can shed some light... By the way, the rate gyro switch is set to "Normal" and it is compensating the yaw motion correctly... Channel 4 is Reversed, zero sub-trim and trim.

Ooppps!!! Problem solved... turns out that Channel 4 signal was not perfectly centered although the rudder stick was dead center. Trimmed out this discrepancy and now everything works Rate gyro initialized!!

Learned something new...

Have you checked the servo mix menu on your TX? You may need to set the servo to a negative value as opposed to just reversing the servo. Just a thought here.

*EDIT* Okay, glad to see you figured it out. Thanks for sharing the solution.

Cheers.

Still got one problem to figure out... I'm using a rate gyro and hence, have to set Revo Mix... The Futaba 9C has 5 points for Revo Mix curve, defaulting to -20 (low), -10, 0, 10, 20 (high).

How do i know this default is okay to use? What should i do to determine the correct values? If the heli's nose tends to rotate to one side, how would i know if this is a problem with the tail/gyro setup, or due to unsuitable revo mix settings?
