Any time available to do some Monster Ducati designs based on The Doctor's bike, or a Repsol Honda Stoner edition?

Many thanks to tutelarRC, CyLLIKA, Mark and Davy for all you've contributed, great work!

Cheers

I got bored so I thought, pfft paper... need to use something more manly... like an aluminum pop can.... well the heart was in the right place but its kinda not so pretty:

I think using the aluminum in a popcan is a viable option but i need to find a better way of assembling it then hot glue... a mini spot welder would be a dream

You mite want to check you still get a radio signal .

Try a 2ltr bottle of coke and use the plastic might be better.

Default Finished Product

I´m still fiddling with the PDF file to make it easier to cut/glue, will upload when finished. I´m also working on a template for the msrx to make a nano-tdr.

Thanks a lot to CyLLIKA, who solved my canopy problem.

I considered the problem that it might interfer with the signal, and tho i haven't tested it, if i were to solder a wire to the frame and then attach it to the lil antenna on the bored, would that fix it.. if not improve it?

Havent tried bottles yet, but wouldnt it be very hard to get the curve out of them... maybe a hair blower would help iron it out...?

Plastic bottles act a bit like heat-shrink, I have see plankers make cockpit canopy's out of them, But not tried my self.

Default PDF, Paper Recommendation

Here is the PDF file of my race canopy. I traced the original template in Photoshop and reworked some areas. Especially the upper middle part is longer to give the board a little more protection. Also when I look at photos from other canopies mine seems to fit a bit tighter when printed at 100%.

After experimenting I highly recommend using inkjet or laser glossy white film as print medium, which is a white- opaque plastic paper. It is very light, does not tear as fast as paper and gives brilliant prints. It is available where you can get printable transparency sheets for overhead projectors. The only drawback is that the surface is highly hygroscopic, meaning that fingerprints will stay. I solved this by applying one coat of acrylic clear paint (rattle can) to the dried prints before cutting.

Default another one

I really like to make these. Here´s the bespoke scaled msrx version of the tdr canopy with some new design. I also made it in the original size and added small corrections to the way it is assembled. As somewhere in the middle of this thread suggested I did the belly in a separate piece, much easier to glue IMO.

Not necessarily a Williams fan, but I like the color scheme. I´m not even watching F1 anymore, pretty boring. But these race designs fit the tdr canopy quite well. Here are another two I managed to get ready this weekend.

So here´s the deal: The first who guesses all of the 4 original designs and their respective drivers can determine the next template I´m doing.

I will do every race design except Gulf, because this has already been beaten to death.

Have fun

Uhm,
Can they be the Williams driven by Prost and Hill, the Williams driven by Senna and Hill, the Lotus driven by Andretti and Mansell and finally the Renault driven by Alonso?

Very good guesses, gionir!
As no one else posted I´m looking forward to your suggestion. BTW: I´m a huge fan of the Bathurst 1000, true racing.

Disclosure: Williams Renault no. 5 driven by Mansell; the "Rotorman" was intended to be a Rothmans Porsche (Bell/Stuck/Holbert), although similar design to the Rothmans Williams; JPS Lotus no. 12 driven by Senna; Benetton Renault by Alonso. Sorry for the nitpicking, can´t help I´m German.

Cheers
