4 or 6s
Hi,
I bought a mini protos kit after i put a thread to choice between rave amd mini protos and you helped me, now i will assembly the kit but i dont know if i run 4s or 6s, i fly hard 3d, what is the difference of performance ? The 6s is higher than 4 maybe effect the flight? And about stretch kit its a good choice? Because i think the heli stay little less agile Thanks for help again |

I can't comment much on the 6S vs. 4S. 4S performance is alright, I guess 6S will get you a bit more to the extreme end of things.
Stretching is definitely a good choice. Tail performance gets much better. I wouldn't call it less agile, mini behaves more like a 500 class heli that way, more mature if you wish. If you stretch your tail only and stay on 325mm blades, you'll be amazed by the change in tail characteristics while staying "small". I fly this combo indoors and have loads of fun

CG on the stretch is fine with any battery. I'm currently flying 3s 2200 packs because I already owned them - I have to hang them about 1/2" past the front of the tray but that fits fine under the canopy.
4s and 6s packs are a little heavier, and people say they have them in the middle of the tray.

That's right, my 4S go in the middle and balance perfectly.

i want to stretch and upgrade from 3S but can't decide if 4 or 6s. I prefer sport flying, so i look for flying time at first. At thise moment looks to me setup 6s + 15T much better then 4s with breaking 14T but disadvantage is battery availability. Any others +/- what can help to decide?

Yep, forget 14T pinion, go 4S with 15T. It works ok for me, you get good RPM range and 4S will hold fine for longer sports flying. I can run mine around 60% throttle for what seems like eternity with 20% capacity left on 2200mAh 4S 40C packs (6-8 minutes).

I am running 6S on mine stretched. 1300kV motor, 15t pinion at 2900rpm for sport aerobatic style flying. Zippy 6S 1800 packs going OK so far. I go back and forth between 350mm Radix FBL blades and 325mm Edge FBL blades. Low FBL head and stretched tail are the way to go regardless of whether you want to run longer blades or not and for my part, unless you already own the motor or 4S packs, you may as well go all the way with 6S.

my set up.
6s with 1300 kv motor and hyperion 1100 mah 6s 45c batteries on 15 tooth which are not hard to find. Google them and you will find them in stock at several places. Plus they are not that expensive. |

Go with 6s. Zippy 1800 mah will give you the longest flight time and will not cost you a lot. 1300 kv and stretch is a must.

I just cant help thinking a 1800 mah 6s battery is just way to heavy, oh well! especialy in a 45 c or higher discharge rate. I certainly do not lack flight time with the 1100 mah 6s hyperions but I dont run 3200 plus head speed either.

Hello,
I'm Stretch with 325mm main blade, 1300KV setup and currently flying 16T pinion and with Governor ON. My lipo are from ebay 1200mAh 6S 35C. With Idle1 flat curve 75% (DX7) it's dammed powerfull to make good 3D with around 4-5min flight time, only 300-350mAh left. Idle 2 at 85% is a missile but FT is lower around 4 min. Only 150-200mAh left in the lipo. I also flew it with 60% normal curve for slow 3D. Flight time is 5 min and only half lipo is consumed. I'm planning to go with 15T to get abit more torq and extra FT. This setup is excellent but I think that 4S is fairly more confortable for lipo availability. |
